So can we catch Barnsley?

Doncaster are on a poor run of form atm, not expecting anything other than 3 points to barnsley

The last time they lost at home was against us in October. Correct me if I am wrong. Marquis was suspended for their previous game so he'll be fully fit. They beat Luton at home as well

I think we have the perfect chance to beat Walsall.

It's no longer a novelty 'playing the big boys' or coming out at the SOL and they're stuck in middle table which is where they'll finish.

If Doncaster beat Barnsley, which I believe will happen, the atmosphere on Saturday should be good.

Grigg will score if we play the ball through the channels or get behind their defence .... Gooch did that at Barnsley but the cutbacks were all rushed and poor.

Hopefully we'll let Morgan start on Saturday, he gets his head up more imo.

Gooch looks overweight and has been crap since he signed contract and had the bairn, I would not play him on Sat.

I think we will just fall short. But let's stop this idea that Barnsley are way better than us. We took 4 points off them FFS.
There's no doubt we have drawn too often but just imagine the perception if we had won a couple of games that we drew after early red cards. We'd be level with a game in hand after having took 4 points off them.
Barnsley are nothing special. Neither are we.

And our run-in looks a lot more difficult than theirs

So yet another must win game?

They all are; from now on in.

Having taken an interest in what Sunderland fans are thinking this season , it seems obvious many of you are not happy with how the team is performing . I personally think Luton and Barnsley will keep the top 2 spots , with your lads having an outside chance . I wish I could say Pompey have a chance but it’s no surprise the wheels have come off , the Football has been negative , and underwhelming all season , and I doubt it will improve . Kenny jackets tactics are negative , boring , and he is unable to Select a settled team . Play offs at best for Pompey ( then toss a coin )

Could gain 3 as well.
Barnsley 3 1 win Friday

Agree about the top 2 .

Of course we CAN catch them but I really don't think we will. After Friday, their run-in is not too bad at all and I have to say I've been impressed by their energy and pressing whenever I've seen them. Even after losing key players, they've maintained their form.

I think they will draw on Friday vs Donnie and we'll beat Walsall Saturday.

But by the time we play another league game they'll have then played away at Walsall and home to Coventry. A win and a draw from those two and they'd be 6 points ahead of us. Yes, we'd have three games in hand but it's a big ask to play catch-up so late in the season with the matches coming thick and fast.

Hope I'm wrong but I think it's 3rd place for us and those f***ing play-offs again.

They’ve gained 10 points on us in two months. If that’s us applying pressure then we are truly fucked.
Great point, there's 2 months of the season left and it show's what's possible from a far worse position than we're in.

My point about pressure maybe wasn't clear reading back.. what I mean is that the end of the season always throws up odd results purely down to pressure from it being the end of the season.. we're underdogs so you'd have to hope that Barnsley would be more prone to capitulating under it than us.

Obviously to add to that we need to invoke the spirit of seasons past where we came back from the certified dead, and fed off the pressure suddenly doing a Jekyll and Hyde - but I really think this team are capable of pulling together and have the skill to step it up a notch. It's far from certain whether it will pan out like that but the potential is there and the situation is far from dire.

Have they?

They've failed to score in 3 of their last 5 games and have worse form than us.

They're a good team but so are we, I think Doncaster will beat them ;)

Yes if Ross changes his tactics/team selection so we become more positive and adventurous.
