So can we catch Barnsley?

Our recent form is better than Barnsley, they've had 2 recent 0-0 home draws and will lose at Doncaster.

They've looked shaky since they hit 2nd and the pressure is getting to them.

Yes we can catch them, we'll beat Walsall and things will look a lot different.

We have 3 consecutive home games, in April, and they'r'e all games we can win.

Barnsley have lost twice the games we have and will lose more from now on as well ...

... we'll be fine.

This sounds similar to your analysis of our championship run in and we know how that turned out ...

Doncaster wins we beat Walsall game on...Gerrinnnn
Exactly - those results could easily happen this weekend and then we'd be 1 point behind with a game in hand. As always we need to look at our own form and need to get on a run. The problem we have had is constantly playing catch up but there's just under a 1/4 of our season to go and so, yes, of course we can. We could do with Maguire back but he may well return after the Accrington game.

We draw too many games, the manager needs a mind set change or it’s the play offs at this rate.

He didn't know whether to stick or twist last night. A draw was okay but he understandably didn't want to risk losing chasing a win.

Quoting current form, forthcoming games and results isn't an analysis.

Instead of discussing me why not give an opinion on the thread subject?

Fair.

I feel we won't. Drawing 44% of games so far won't cut the mustard. Wins will do it. Not being buzzing with constant 1-1. Think it'll be third and lottery of play offs.

Last 5 games they've won 2 to our 3 ....

That's the only point in the form table we are slightly ahead, 4 is the same, 6 is the same, 8 we are 4 behind, 10 we are 4 behind, 12 we are 8 behind.
Only takes us to defend ever so slightly better or attack ever so slightly better and all those draws we keep having turn into wins but we haven't really looked like we would apart from a spell when Maguire came back briefly into form before being injured.
We can do it but we aren't playing as well as our rivals at the minute, Barnsley's defence is playing really really well

They've failed to score in 3 of their last 5 games, we've only failed to score in 1 game all season.

They've lost 5 games this season, we've lost 2.

They're not much different to us, imo, it's too close to call but we can do it.

True, both teams have plus and minus points, they have been better than we have recently defensively and they have been picking up more wins than us but a small change to either team (in any way shape or form) could see either one pull away.
I still think the next three Barnsley games while we only play one could be vital. They do well in all three and our three games in hand could be massive pressure games. If they don't pull a big gap we could see a bit of confidence rise in our game knowing we take over them with just a couple of good results.
April will be a hard month for us though, 2 games every week and quite a few injuries plus a suspension to key players already.
It's gonna be an exciting 7 or so weeks, not sure my heart is going to enjoy it too much

Last night wasn’t the reason we are not in the top 2. We are now hoping results go our way now and we shouldn’t be. Chasing wins should have been the default setting months ago.

Where will they drop points?

Three biggest chances to me are their visits to Doncaster, Plymouth and Bristol Rovers. Their home games all look eminently winnable though I think there'll be a slip in one of them somewhere.

The thing is can we take advantage? In truth, I see nothing to suggest we can. I'd expect to win more than we don't and I'd only expect 1 defeat at the most. But we coast through large parts of games, often giving ourselves about 20 minutes to win it. Barnsley are in your face all the time, we don't do that.

The draws unfortunately look set to cost us. I cannot see us winning enough to overhaul Barnsley unless they implode and that looks unlikely.

It's been a better season than I expected but I suspect we are heading for the play-offs.

I hope I'm wrong.
No, this season has 97/98 written all over it.

Some people seem to be saying Ross isn't great, the players are poor and we aren't playing well ...

... yet, at the same time, claiming we should be doing much better, winning more games and in the automatic places.

How does that work then

I think you will be playoffs as I’ve mentioned with us and Charlton. I actually expect Barnsley to reign Luton in a little bit by the end of the season.

Funny game football, but if Barnsley do the business at Donny on Friday, very tough to see where they’ll next drop points. They’ll be looking at the fact you have us, Donny, Posh and Coventry all still to play, and we still have the same opposition bar Doncaster to play.

Barnsley have Burton and Plymouth away. Could easy drop points there .they couldn't beat burton at home. All to play for
