What an awful to end a 3 hour + battle, but what a win for Muchova. Shame we didn't get the tie breaker, doubt we'll get that tie break now for the rest of the tournament. Another surprise name in the quarter final, but at least this one is on the rise having made a WTA final a couple of months ago and a decent age at 22.

Right, back to Konta.

Muchova wins.....thank God for that I can concentrate 100% on Kontas game now.

Snap

Serena probably couldn't have wished for a better day.

If Kvitova goes out here, she'll be a huge favourite for the title. Barty, Pliskova, Kerber all out before the QF stage (and potentially Petra as well).

Murray will probably be sweating, because if she thinks it'll negatively affect 24 in any way, she'll be sharp withdrawing I suspect.

I hadn't heard of her before Wimbledon.

Serena vs Riske
Kvitova/Konta vs Strycova
Svitolina vs Muchova
Halep vs Zhang

So there will be a top 10/11 seed, or at least a big name from a home perspective in each QF tie, all against unseeded players, and 3 of those opponents in the twilight of their career. Serena will be a big favourite despite Riske's grass pedigree and having already beaten competent grass seeds Vekic, Benic and Barty, although all 4 of her matches have gone 3 sets, which could end up catching up.

The tight turnaround for Muchova won't be ideal, but Svitolina is beatable on grass, and then Halep was soundly beaten by Kerber a couple of weeks ago and Zhang has had some surprise convincing big wins this week, so you never know.

It will be interesting to see the order and court placings when they come out later. I'd imagine it would be:

Centre
Serena
Strycova (regardless of who against)

Court 1
Svitolina
Halep

Djokovic and Nadal looking supreme, men's tennis badly needs a new face to challenge these two...

Yeah, it's a strange one. I wasn't expecting much from Humbert or Sousa today, but the ease in which they came / are coming through isn't great. Berrettini was the most likely to have any sort of joy today, and it's good that many coming back from work will be able to watch that, but I'd have rather it was Novak potentially crashing out rather than Roger - would have been good if that was QF not L16 which it was proposed before Coric pulled out.

I am looking forward to a potential Roger-Rafa semi, and either of those vs Novak will be a good final, but it's obviously nothing new and it definitely needs something different, or at least young, exciting players to push them to 4 or 5 close sets. Hopefully Matteo can at least get a set and a couple of tie breaks, rather than be routined like the other 2.
