Sandgren is 27, I think, but also out.

Ha, he was pretty much the only person I didn't check while I was frantically watching those Konta match points. He's not exactly an inspiring player anyway.

This will be a right sickener if she loses from match points on serve.

Phew.

Yeah, Sandgren's unlikely to be a rop player. Also, he'll be 28 in 2 weeks.

Yeah, he's basically Challenger level bar a couple of surprise runs at the highest level these past 18 months. His personal beliefs aren't going to help him crossover either.

So final women's QF line up:

S Williams vs Riske
Konta vs Strycova
Svitolina vs Muchova
Halep vs Zhang

Four obvious favourites but four lively outsiders basically.

Didn't know about his beliefs/affiliations but just had a look.

Yeah, Riske is 3/1, Muchova is 7/4, Zhang is 4/1. No odds up for Konta yet.

Zhang is weird - lost comfortably to Rogers and Cornet on grass coming into this, and had lost 7 of 8 matches very recently, and even Katie Swan was 4-2 up in the decider in their recent match, but here she has looked very solid, almost suspiciously so. 9 games won in a row against Nottingham winner Garcia, 12 of the last 14 games against Wozniacki. She's 30 and has done nothing outside of an AO QF a few years ago (where she beat Halep). I'm still not fully convinced of Halep on grass, so I have a sneaky suspicion that Zhang may pull it off, I certainly hope not. She had lost every Wimbledon main draw match prior to this year.

If this was earlier in the year (or even a week ago coming into Wimbledon), you'd think ideal for Halep, should be routine, like 2 and 3, still might be, but Zhang has looked surprisingly good.

The men's game looks a bit dull at the moment. Of the players in round 4, only Humbert and Berretini are under 25.

Stat popped up earlier saying David Goffin today became only the third player born in the 90's to reach the quarter final of three of the four Slams.

I think it would probably be fair to describe that as not ideal.

It's quite uncomfortable watching this. Fed has obviously been excellent, but Berrettini will be having nightmares.
Nerves got to him, Federer did the business and if he plays like that he will fancy his chances but....
Mentioned the lack of aces and the court being slow and having to see how he fares against the better baseline players (i.e djokovic, nadal), which is a shame as grass should be lightening quick instead we may get another slugfest from nadal/Djokovic in the final.

That's a bit scary. Raonic is another. No idea who the third would be.

Kind of what you'd have expected for tomorrow's quarter final schedule. The 2 main draws on Centre, with Konta on 2nd because she finished much later (and Serena gets rest assuming she doesn't withdraw from the doubles). Muchova also gets extra recovery time following her epic:

CENTRE COURT
1:00PM

A. Riske (USA) v S. Williams (USA) 11
B. Strycova (CZE) v J. Konta (GBR) 19
MIXED DOUBLES - SECOND ROUND: A. Murray (GBR) & S. Williams (USA) v F. Martin (FRA) & R. Atawo (USA) 14

NO.1 COURT
1:00PM

S. Halep (ROU) 7 v S. Zhang (CHN)
E. Svitolina (UKR) 8 v K. Muchova (CZE)
GENTLEMEN'S DOUBLES - QUARTER-FINALS: L. Kubot (POL) & M. Melo (BRA) 1 v N. Mahut (FRA) & E. Roger-Vasselin (FRA) 11

Think I'll mainly watch Halep and have Serena on the laptop.

Other doubles matches and juniors on the outside courts.
