SMB Tennis thread

Will never not be funny that Fed and Nadal fans who are bitter that he's better than their fave think 22 time Grand Slam winner and the greatest player of all time needs to pretend to be injured to get in the heads of his opponent to be able to beat them
Is he great? Of course he is.
Is he the Goat? Probably
Has he been using MTO's throughout his career and overcoming 'crippling' Injuries with superhuman strength to win slams? Absolutely yes

What's your favourite Novak Djokovic fake injury? Mine was the torn ab muscle against Taylor Fritz here a couple years ago. How else would the greatest player of all time beat Taylor Fritz when he was two sets up unless he faked an injury and dropped the third and fourth set before coming through in the fifth?! He even applied make up to the area to make it look badly bruised in the next few days and faked the scans proving the injury, pathetic really.

I like the early years, 'I have no energy' must call the trainer as I'm losing followed by winning comfortably from then on out.

Do I think he had an Ab injury, yes, was it as bad as he made out probably not at the time, iirc he played another 3 full matches after that 'superhuman'...
Nadal and Berretini were proof of proper ab injuries, they got through 1 match and 0 matches in comparison.
Will never not be funny that Djokovic fans are bitter he's not as loved as Nadal or Federer despite his 21 Slams because he pretends to be injured to get in the heads of his opponent to be able to beat them

The issue with Djokovic is that he often acts like he can't even walk, and then he starts running faster than ever. If he had a serious real injury he would be at home now, like Nadal or Alcaraz. It’s because of this that he will never get the love Nadal and Federer got regardless of how many slams he wins.

I cant stand the bloke, but having seen him 4/5 times in person its impossible not to respect the level of tennis from him, which only heightens the annoyance with his 'injury' issues because he's so much better than his opponent that he doesnt even need to go on the way he does.

Yep he’s going to win the most slams and that means he will go down as the greatest ever , like you say just a shame he spoils it with all the other stuff and it’s why he will never truly be respected and loved like Nadal and Federer.

Did Swiatek just get a time penalty before even hitting the first ball of the match ? Silly sossij.
The dream Q/F everyone predicted/wanted
Rybakina v Ostapenko
Both of them looked in great form, scorching winners from Ostapenko and solid serve and hitting from Rybakina.

Massive choke from Rune.
4 opportunities to win that, 5-3 serving, 2 match points at 6-5, 5-0 in the tiebreak...dissaponting as Rublev is a poor matchup for Djokovic.

Speaking of Djokovic, I see his hamstring was 'really bothering him' today in his demolition of diminaur

I can't see Djokovic not winning this now unless Tsitsipas or Korda have the match of their lives against him.

There's a ITF futures event in Sunderland this week a Silksworth Tennis Centre.

Tsitsipas hitting the ball incredibly cleanly last few games, if he can just nick a break now Djokovic's lost his focus a bit...

This has been one of the most boring Grand Slam tournaments I can ever remember. Djokovic has barely got out of first gear the past 2 weeks.

Djokovic is still so far ahead of everyone it’s unreal really, he will win the French if Rafa isn’t fit, his biggest competition at Wimbledon is a 36 year old Rafa who will more than likely be injured anyway. If he’s allowed in America he should win that as well really although his record there is poor really by his own usual standards. I know it’s a very weak generation of tennis but for him at 35 to be so far ahead of everyone Is still ridiculous.
