SMB Tennis thread

Queued from 1pm but got nowhere near tickets. Have gone through lots of fastest finger first ballots and that was as bad as any.

Novak Djokovic is 10/11 to win a Slam on his worst surface two weeks after one of the biggest achievements of his career :lol:

Am I off or is that crazy? How on earth can you back him at that price to win a major on grass? Mad. Berrettini's the man even though his odds in the last five days have been absolutely hammered because of him beating Muzz, him being quite clearly the best player at Queens and Nadal pulling out. Other than him I'm looking at Fed at 10's and Cilic up at 66's.

Wimbledon draw's out, not exactly the best draw in the world for British players. A lot of them winnable but not many of them too favourable.

Djokovic and Fed will both be happy with their draws, couple of decent players for both early on but you'd be happy enough with either draw. Quite like Fed's overall chances to be honest. Just glad Berrettini's on the other side to Djokovic to give my bet a chance although the one player I didn't want him to play is his likely opponent in the third round. Was hoping for a nice early Djokovic v unseeded Kyrgios but never mind.

I'll whisper this quietly but start off with a decent R1 performance and with how open and balanced that second section is, Dan Evans or Andy Murray have a chance of a deep run. Evo v De Minaur R3 would hopefully get centre court treatment if it happened.

Losing interest in tennis I must admit, watching Djokovic grind his way through every tournament and win is just becoming boring, Once he beat Nadal on clay it was clear how much Nadal had declined and Federer surely cant beat him at 40 year old, the next gen don't appear any closer to beating him, even at 2 sets down to the Greek on his least successful surface in the final I never thought for one minute he would get beat, has already won 5 Wimbledon's and will make it 6 next month no doubt about it.

Wimbledon draw is as easy as they come for Djokovic barring potential 2nd round with Anderson.
Federers half is filled with the better team players and big servers, his route isn't too bad but I think this is his last appearance and don't see him being successful

X5 champion and beaten Federer in 3 finals, no Nadal, Raonic, Thiem, and Federer looks finished and no next gen player has made the quarters at Wimbledon & to top it all he's got a very good draw, would be crazy not to back him at that price

R1
Kvitova v Stephens. Crazy match for R1.

Possible R2
Djokovic v Anderson. 2018 final re-run.

Possible R3
Federer v Norrie
Cilic v Medvedev
Kyrgios v Tsonga - could be ridiculous fun.
Berrettini v Isner - watch out line-judges!

Serena possible route:
R3 Kerber
R4 Gauff/Bencic
QF Pavlyuchenkova/Svitolina
SF Barty/Andreescu/Azarenka
F Pliskova/Kvitova/Kenin/Swiatek/Muguruza/Sabalenka.

Haway man Federer doesn't look finished, stop being so pessimistic!

Draper about to serve for the first set against Djokovic...

watched his Halle performance, was not encouraging

Not ideal admittedly! Didn't see any of it to be fair. Just need to remember that he lost to a 90 year old Tommy Haas at Halle the last time he won Wimbledon so there is some hope.

Winning three sets against him on centre court at Wimbledon is a whole different animal. I've been tempted in for just a few quid by the 12's on offer on Skybet so fingers crossed he looks good early on.

Hope lightning strikes twice ;)

Honestly Djokovic v berretini final is a very good bet
Tiafoe outplaying Tsitsipas here, but shock incoming

That second section of the bottom half seems incredibly balanced, would probably guess it's between RBA, Opelka and maybe Khachanov? Looks wide open. Evans has a decent chance of a good run if he gets past Lopez.

Just hoping Murray gets off to a good start here.
