His best slam outside France is Wimbledon - he got ridiculously lucky at the US last year

It really isn't. Looking at all the statistics, I don't know how your can make that assumption.

He has more slam titles at the US Open than Wimbledon, he has the least individual match wins as well as lowest win % at Wimbledon. Prior to this year he hadn't been past the 4th round since 2011.

The stats are all here:
Rafael Nadal - Wikipedia

You mention he was ridiculously lucky at last years US Open and he did have a very nice draw, but at the same time, he has lost early to the likes of Darcis, Mueller, Rosol and Dustin Brown at Wimbledon, players he really shouldn't be losing to if he was as good on grass as other surfaces. Definitely his worst surface.

He's been blasted off the court on a different surface to grass by Nick Kyrgios to be fair. He didn't play for eight months after the Rosol match either. It is his worst surface but if you think he's anything worse than the fourth best grass court player of the last 10-15 years then you're kidding yourself.

Trying to put down Djokovic's achievement of only beating the world number one (when grass is Djokovic's worst surface...) was a really odd comment to make.

There are more hard specialists than grass, and he has won four hard slams to two Wimbledons, where he was denied a fair few time by peak Federer. If he was a great hard court player he would have a couple more slams on the surface at least.

Nadal has ran into a peak Djokovic and a peak Federer over his career and still managed to win 17 slams, all the injuries he has had to, he would have 20+ slams had it not been for that.

I see Norrie has made the Atlanta 250 semi final after beating Krygios 7-5 3-0 ret. Didn't see the match as it was on at 1am and only on Tennis TV, but mixed feelings, chuffed for Cam to make another 250 semi final (his 2nd in 2 months) and he has defended the 80 points he gained at Binghampton last year, but another retirement for Krygios and whether it's a genuine injury or he just though screw this, then neither is ideal. Norrie plays Ryan Harrison in the semi final tonight (midnight UK) so a half decent chance to make the final.

The draws for San Jose and Washington have produced some interesting matches - Murray will face Edmund again in the 2nd round of Washington if he can beat McDonald (Kyle has a bye) while Konta faces Serena Williams in the San Jose first round. Watson is also in the San Jose draw, while Katie Boulter and Katie Swan (wildcard) are in the WTA Washington main draw, with Harriet Dart in the qualifying draw.

2 17 year olds (ex Wimbledon jr champ Potapova and Danilovic) have made the semi final of WTA Moscow and while unlikely, could meet in the final.

True but Fed would be on 30 and Djok on 20 in similar scenarios. Murray would also be a dominant World Number 1 and have double digit slam count without the other big four members. This has been an era where you have four all time great players unfortunate enough (for them) to be playing together.

Great win for Jay Clarke just now against Granollers and he is through to his second career challenger final. Already at a career high and will now move into the top 200 for the first time.

Oh and that all 17 year old final in Moscow will be happening as Potapova and Danilovic both won. Loads of teenagers making breakthroughs on the women's side at the moment which is always encouraging. That starts at 11am tomorrow on one of the BT Sport channels.

Gerrin  well done Jay.

Great stuff, been watching since 6 - was going to be in the background to the darts but ended up being my main focus. Up to around 174 now in the live rankings and a top 100 win.

Hopefully Harriet Dart can follow that next in her Washington final qualifying round and make her 2nd overseas WTA main draw appearance.

What a fantastic win just now for Katie Boulter 6-2 6-0 over Krunic who is in the top 50 to make the 2nd round of Washington. She plays a qualifier next so a real chance to make the quarters here and a likely match up with Wozniacki. Closing in on the top 100. Great stuff.

Does Murray play today?

He's due on at midnight on one of the Sky channels mate. May be dependent on matches before him but I think he starts the evening session (7pm their time) so would imagine that would be when he does actually start. Harriet Dart has a match on BT around 10.30/11ish so could all tie in together.

That's an impressive result for Boulte, seems to be rapidly improving.

I'll watch the first set of Andy to see how he is looking.

Belinda Bencic vs Harriet Dart on BT now. Rain stopped it last night with Bencic leading 7-5 4-2. Harriet had 3 BPs to start off, but Bencic has clawed 2 back so 30-40 and has now saved a third so deuce. Probably not going to last much longer now unfortunately.

Game point for her now as well...

7-5 5-2, probably won't last much longer. Dart was 5-2 up at one stage so 10/12 games for Bencic.

Katie Swan on later, but probably looking at 1 or 2am for that one to start.

Iga Swiatek is going to be the next big thing in women's tennis.

She's looking very impressive. Superb at Wimbledon juniors and making a big impact on the ITF scene reaching an 80k semi final the other week and now inside the top 300 already.

There's so many teenagers coming through at the moment though so I still think it's hard to say which one will proper breakthrough and potentially dominate - the 2 reaching the WTA final (Potapova maybe not quite as promising as some of the others) but also Kostyuk who has just turned 16, Anisimova who is just back from a 4 month injury lay off and already back to winning ways in WTA events and then there's Yastremska as well who just turned 18 the other month and has already cracked the top 100 and qualified directly for the US Open - I can't remember a time when there's been so many so young and promising at the same time and it's very encouraging.

There's another very young Ukranian (like 15) who's name I forget who hasn't lost a match yet on the ITF circuit, admittedly playing weak 15k events, but is winning with dominant scorelines so definitely one to keep an eye on - it's a very long name beginning with L.

Great result for Konta. A big two fingers stuck up to the large amount of people who have written her off over the past twelve months.
