Short Is Failing Us

If he doesn't appoint a good manager/head coach then I think it's time for him to call it a day and get out.

He's sold Mignolet and Sessegnon and failed to replace them.

We needed more quality and we've brought in bargain basement players.

There is no communication and there appears to be no direction. Commercially we may be doing well but that will count for very little if we are relegated which is looking inevitable.

Very disappointing.
Why is anyone surprised none of them in the boardroom have a clue about football it's an absolute shambles Short's reign has been littered with horrendous decisions I hope he is not about to make another with his next managerial appointment.

Supporters of SAFC should be really worried right now.
It's almost certain we will be relegated this season, as we are the worst team in the league.
short is all about the premier league and I just cannot see him sticking around should things go as expected remainder of this season.
so how will he get out with as much of his money back as possible?
He could sell our best players, maybe claw back 40 million, then sell up (assuming he can find a buyer)
What are the clubs debts as things stand?
and how would they be serviced should short walk away?
This is why appointing Kevin Ball makes a lot of sense. Ball will stick around no matter what. If the money goes, even if we go into administration at some stage I'd back ball to look after the interests of the club, bring on the young players and hopefully make sure we don't fall through the championship into league 1 which really would be a disaster.
The running of SAFC appears to be some sort of horrible hybrid taken from the owners of QPR and Wolverhampton Wanderers - how we laughed as they got it so spectacularly wrong, and now look at us.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but more fans then I can ever remember were in support of the Martin O'Neill appointment, and Lawrie Mac fell into a similar category.

When Short suggested employing a DOF that was the end for O' Neill like I said the lack of knowledge about football in the boardroom is a joke and needs looking at and fast.

It was undoubtedly a factor, but so was the horrendous football coupled with desperately poor results. I can't say I was surprised when O'Neill was sacked, it was awful uninspiring football and we were heading for the trap-door without a doubt in my mind. I was happy as a sand boy when O'Neill was appointed. He was a massive disappointment. I can't argue with any of the sackings dished out by Short, he has been badly let down by his employees, only Di Canio was his appointment who was inexperienced, the other two were experienced. He hasn't helped himself by his choices in the rest of the Management structure mind. So not all of his decisions have been poor. He's in line with the tradition of Sunderland Board & Management teams who fuck it up sooner or later.

- Why did we sell Sessegnon and not replace him?

- Why have we brought in bargain basement players and little quality?

- Why was Di Canio only given 5 games in charge after bringing in so many players in the summer?

- What's our strategy? Does the club have a plan for creating a strong football team? The Udinese model is all well and good in terms of making profits but as a football supporter are we going to see our side win many games... if any?!

Based on the cheap signings we've made very few sides would want to sign them. That's not exactly how the Udinese model works is it?

We are looking to operate in a more sustainable manner, hence the transfer policy. You don't know what quality our signings have, none of us have.

Di Canio was punted cos he's mental and shit.

Our strategy is to stay in this league by doing things differently. I'd suggest that we'd have a better idea of how well that might work if we hadn't hired a shit and mental coach. If the next one is an upgrade - and it'd be hard for that not to be the case - then we have 30+ games to fix the season.

Do you still think relegation is inevitable?

We haven't come on one bit. If we go down this season, we are back where we were when Quinny took over.

What options do he have? Look for a buyer because he won't take the risk to try and buy us out of this mess in January. In fact, it might be too late then anyway and based on past January windows we usually don't bring in players until the end.

We're not like.

Do you think he's about to make another mistake on the managerial appt, or do they genuinely not know who they want?

Have you read Short's comments

What's your agenda

If he got 40 million for our shower of shit, I'd be amazed.

Once the decision was taken to sell mignolet, replace him with Westwood and at the same time fail to significantly strengthen the back four, relegation became inevitable, aye

Haway man stop winding yourself up : you'll have a fit man !

To sell the club in the championship he'd have to write off the vast majority of his investments/ our debts . If we went into admin he'd have lost everything and there'd be no shortage of investors wanting to pick us up for next to nothing and debt free.
Whatever we think about Ellis the lad is not short of cash but like Ashley before him he might well feel he's ploughed too much of it into what was no doubt supposed to a little vanity project. If we did go down, again like Ashley, his options would be to bankroll us back to the premier or lose it all.

Yes I do. We simply don't have enough quality in our squad.

Our "sustainable" transfer policy has ensured we are rooted to the foot of the table. Leaking goals and struggling to score.[DOUBLEPOST=1381094021][/DOUBLEPOST]

Well we are position wise. Back in the championship. All that hard work gone to waste.

Agree Short has been a big disappointment, not a football man its clear, and I was much happier with Quinny in charge. He's going through managers quicker than Abramovich, and still we are going backwards. That said, the lads put in a decent shift against Utd, I'll give them that. Get a decent manager in and give him time now, even if we do get relegated, too much knee-jerk reactions coming from above.

Bit harsh on Short like tbh. He's clearly made mistakes in the past and may not have the greatest understanding of the sport but he's put his own cash into your club and funded the losses year on year. Writing off £15m+ for a few years off the bounce must start to grate at some point though. I'm not a millionaire but if I was then throwing good money after bad at something would piss me off regardless of how rich I was.

I'm sure how Quinny sold it to him was "just 4 or 5 years cash injection , then established in top half of premier , stadium rammed & extended, cups runs and European football, freedom of Wearside" . Here he is now, hands down worst investment he's ever made and he can't get out !

no doubt, but it could have been that way.
