Why do you think they use the word Holocaust though for nuclear holocaust?

Nuclear weapons do indeed invoke images of burning.

I just don’t get how you’d link a holocaust to football. I’m more bothered by poor punditry, and a lack of education from someone who gets paid to talk at us.

Nancy's tenure could equally have been described as a car crash, or a shit show. It's metaphorical.

Holocaust is (ancient) Greek for burnt offering and had first been used to describe the Turkish massacres and attempted genocide of the mainly Christian Armenians in WW1.

In modern parlance it can mean massacre, genocide or disaster.

If Carragher can work again after hockling at some lass, Given should work again. I don’t think he’ll get the persona non grata treatment that Ron Atkinson got.

It’s a very poor choice of words but he has acknowledged it and apologised immediately.

Take him off air for a few weeks and then let that be that.

One of my many claims to fame is dancing in an Irish foursome with Shay Given and two Irish Girls on St Patrick's Day a long time ago at the Mayfair in The Land of Darkness.....He played for the scum at the time and despite my many attempts to trip the Bastard up on one of the many reels the dopey twat refused to go down!!!

Was canny in goal for us though, a nil nil draw against Stoke at Roker to send us up is another good memory.

Had a great year here. Don’t think anyone fancied the promising keeper too much before he spent a season as arguably our best player. He can beg for Geordie Arabian love, but I get the feeling they’d rather have Tim Krul.

He gets them more?
