If Rodwell is pushing Donald towards Storey then he must be hopeful he'd pass the fit and proper owners test. I know that has been shite in the past and loads of bad owners have been permitted but maybe the EFL are now under more scrutiny than ever so would be more careful. I know it was mentioned Rodwell was on the committee who let Donald in but he can't have any friends left at the EFL as would have had more clout with the season ending on PPG (which fucked us) and the salary cap (which will fuck us).

Rodwell is more likely not that bothered if Storey SHOULD pass the test, just that he is able to and keep him on the gravy train.

EFL is a law unto it's self, completely incompetent and a joke.

Aye. Plan too. I deal with things differently. Yday was raw and just went my ends. Silly really but head screwed on now. I am blown away by how many messages I have got. It's really something. Didn't expect it to be honest. Some great people on here.
All the best mate. I feel im incredibly lucky not to have had this happen to me and the mrs so I can’t even begin to understand what you’re going through.

I haven't seen it mentioned, but MSD have loaned Derby money the same way they/FPP loaned to us and Southampton.

It's looking more and more likely that they've figured the best way to make money from football is to lend money to desperate club owners.

Not sticking up for SD and making an assumption that MG is involved here but alternative view could be if MG and his group want the club that much why doesn’t MG step back himself, let the deal happen then get involved again fuck all to do with SD then .

can understand the frustration that may have for MG after being involved but sometimes you have to see the bigger picture

No criticism of MG here by the way just thinking it shouldn’t be insurmountable

investment for next to nowt but a stake in what happens to any club in trouble....opportunity to get a club on the cheap imo

Presumably as he's put the deal together and is the face of it they see him as crucial. A lot of owners don't want to be in the spotlight and understand it's better for someone who understand the club to be at the forefront while they put the money in.

They're also possibly astounded by how petty and shortsighted SD is being and don't want to give him what he wants.

It has suddenly occured to me that Storey is just a plant to get MG group to raise their offer.

Or at least is being used to suggest to MG group that there's another interested party (so you either go along with Donald or he'll sell to this other, very visible, bloke). I don't think him coming to Sunderland was planned though. I think he's seen the chance for some publicity, and that's forced the club's hands a bit on terms of confirming to journalists that he won't be buying the club. They probably didn't want to have to do that

I agree, just a thought that if that is the sticking point I reckon they could sort it

Financial locusts praying to nick the club and flip it.

So how close was it to being finalised?
The bloke has small man syndrome, goes on the radio spitting his dummy out, FPP takeover fails because of him, calls the fans, argues with ex players and then says he continually wants to sell.
He wonders why his relationship with the fans is broken beyond repair, keep your word and F**k OFF!
Can't tell you how far close it is. I know the investors are getting restless and talking of pulling bid away.

That seems plausible, apart from the fact that it makes no sense for them to do all that as MSD for Derby and Southampton but randomly set up a different group for Sunderland. That added to the fact (I know you can't see evidence for it) that many people know they were looking at a full takeover and people at the club were blabbing about it
