I think it's a real stretch to talk about them as wingers, marra. They're very much fullbacks for me - albeint very attacking ones. Ultimately we've got 7 outfield players whose primary function is to keep out goals IMO - even given the attacking nature of the wingbacks. That balance is very wrong for me.
Can’t agree with that. The two full backs are regularly getting behind their defence or attacking the box. That’s entirely what the systems set up to do. I think when people play against us the right way they drag them backwards but the system’s set up to get them forward and they generally do. They’re as much wingers as they are defensive players. Essentially they become part of a four man midfield and they’re the attacking bit. It’s the deployment of the second central midfielder that makes us overly cautious for me. One needs to be picking up knockdowns and even getting ahead of the striker at times.

Surely we're working on several fronts at the same time? You don't want us to put all other transfers and scouting on hold until we get the attacking midfield player sorted?
Given our recent attempts at recruitment I’m hoping you’re right rather than firmly believing it to be the case.
Can’t find the reference to the deal being dead now - must’ve been in another thread or context.

It was 'confirmed' as dead by the Chronicle I think the day or so before he played for us. Anyhow, deal's done.
Will he need a work permit?
Swiss citizen so I don't think so?

no idea if any good, and not one for saying someone is a better sign because they have a foreign name

but shows that we are at least thi king outside the box, Dave Jones clearly trying

football signings arent an exact science but we have been so so lazy the last 2 years

we need a new manager though
I'm very happy with our signings and think a very good squad is being built.

Just need to add a couple of bits of sparkle/creativity and we are good to go.

not impressed with the others so far, this is a step in the right direction

Why not Wright is good, O'Brien has done it in this league before Feeney has been decent

The mood and tone over the road is starting to change considerably in the last 48 hours i have noticed. From it being played right up after that supposed meeting a few Tuesdays ago to now a one of thinking we are nowhere near again.

Its never ending. I honestly wish if he was staying he would just announce it. I would prefer that cause at least we would all know where we stood instead of this continued situation of false hope
He's not going to do that. This suits him perfectly, 6 weeks of everyone talking about something other than his failings. He employed the same tactics last year whilst the supposed takeover dragged on, the attention firmly away from him whilst the season started and he chanced on a good start and promotion.

I have little doubt he will try the same this season, he knows fans are fickle and a good start leads to a change in mood. whilst the takeover is quietly forgotten about. He then chances on promotion to the Championship where the 20 million plus profit he wants to achieve may be more realistic to him. In the meantime, if someone wants to pay him 37 million then he may well accept it but there's not a cat in hells chance of that.

For those saying he has to sell because he's hemorrhaging money, I disagree. The wage cap will have changed his calculations significantly because ultimately it will reduce his cost base.
