Safety

Honestly, man. Some of you need studying.

We've been safe for months.
This. And I think after the Visitors win we were 99.9% safe, realistically. 16 games left and we need 3 points probably. Look at the number of teams between us and the bottom three. Safe as houses.

Realistically we are safe. 16 points to West Ham but that would also mean every other team in the bottom half also won all their games for the remainder of the season - just not possible
This is the way. Even if we're not a million points clear of relegation, for us to get dragged near it would require half the teams in the league to suddenly show a huge improvement, and that's just not going to happen.

Even though all those draws were a bit frustrating, we kept picking up points while we had so many away and so many games was vital..

Now we're safe as houses. Draws into wins.

But don't let the players think that..tell them we have to beat west ham cos its a six pointer to stay in the league (and not have their pay cut)
Remember when Pappy and the Donger went home after relegation as they thought it didn’t include them.

At what point will you think to yourself, - That's us safe from relegation?
I would say most of us away from the public domain (In the company of Mags) are quietly confident we won't go down now. It would take an unreal turn of events.
However, question to hand - I think, go to West Ham and don't get beat. And then beat Burnley at home and I will be thinking - Yeah thats us now safe / near as dammit

What about next season
To many teams take bad form into a new season.
We need a sensible points per game target for rest of season to maintain momentum.
Complacency is our biggest threat, that’s with a longer term view than simply being safe this season

Oh aye but this thread was on about safety this season. I’d imagine the characters we have at the club now there’s no suggestion of letting up between now and the end of May.

46 points!!!!!!! West Ham’s from over the next 16 games would need to be the same as villas this season. You’re basically asking them to go from a side going down to a side that could challenge from the title
Stranger things have happened, I don't think 40 will be enough tbh but we'll see 😉
