Safety

Honestly, man. Some of you need studying.

We've been safe for months.

We probably have, however as this is a message-board I was putting it out there for debate. I am more old school and always look for the infamous 40 points. I am not in the category, as you put it of "Need studying" as i do think we are safe. Was just wondering what others think, another 4 points for me and I'll be happy

At what point will you think to yourself, - That's us safe from relegation?
I would say most of us away from the public domain (In the company of Mags) are quietly confident we won't go down now. It would take an unreal turn of events.
However, question to hand - I think, go to West Ham and don't get beat. And then beat Burnley at home and I will be thinking - Yeah thats us now safe / near as dammit
When we start next season in the PL.

We have a habit of finding ways to shoot ourselves in the foot

Probably find out in July that RLB wasn't registered correctly and have to forfeit all of our points with him as manager.

Think it's something like the points we already have would have been enough to stay up in three of the last five seasons. One more win would take us to a level that would have been safe in the other two.

We were on about this yesterday, saying - We'll get beat today as it is typical of Sunderland -

However I was trying to say, this team is a "New" Sunderland and I was proved right even if we did try to have a go at getting beat in the first instance.... Ha

Our owner and manager said 40 points AND survival are the targets for this season.
As we approach both in the next few games I’d like them to move the goalposts, so to speak, in order to keep the team focused. Maybe a little something in the pay packet for every position above 12th at the end of season.
These are great times for sure.

We would have to give them to City so they can win the league again.

Regis has also said that the minute we hit 40 points, we'll set a new target for the rest of the season

This....not a chance the 12 teams below us will all finish above us. Wolves & Burnley are both virtually down already, & it will take a miracle for West Ham to stay up

Pedant head: We only need 9 teams to overtake us to finish bottom 3 but your point still stands
