SAFC - Fan Ban & Ticket Cancellations

We are on high 50s now and should be in a decent position next year after the usual 3rd yr deductions.

Only missed out on Bournemouth and Brentford this season but knew they would be tight due to smaller allocations.

We’ve done a fair few games over the years but not quite up there with the bigger loyalty points holders, partly due to my stance of not taking a ticket for a game unless I’d used our own loyalty points.

plenty of chances for people to be in a much better position points wise
I missed boro and hull a couple of times- once due to a massive fuck up by ticket office for hull opening on wrong phase.

I lose 25 or something in the summer so back to the 50odds. I’ll be doing less next season as seen some of the grounds loads now. I think it’s been a hard season for those trying to get in but next season I think we will have a few lower point brackets getting in instead as novelty is worn off- also we probably thought this was a one season wonder so crammed in as many as possible!

The fella has been doing this for years. Getting away tickets for his group on his group's ST. Maybe 10 didn't want to goto an away , so some exile mates in his group got them. So they all were together at matches. In the prem , those without the points or a ST to obtain an away ticket were fans he knew were regular away day goers in league one.
In league one the club used to get in touch with him to offer him extra tickets. The got in touch with him for him to see if he could help an Aussie fan over who was in the news. The club used him to help with away tickets.
He sorted out cheap trains for his group.

The prem league has now changed things. It's not acceptable and it's been dealt with.

This group - large amounts of them will be out of pocket as he sorted a vastly subsidised travel system. Many won't go to the aways, or as many.
When we are shite again, as we no doubt will be, and not selling out , which was a regular thing and will be again, these fans won't be there to bail the club out and support them when the new premier league fans have fucked off.

He has helped 100s of genuine fans over the years and shouldn't be villified. The games changed and he didn't change with it. But those he helped were all long term fans. All here in league one.
Superb post. Spot on.

'I'm alright Jack'^^^

...so you've never, ever benefitted from someone else getting you a ticket?
It just bothers me that I have paid thousands to build up my points and travelled up and down the country writing off full weekends and taking time off work etc. To have people jump to the front of the queue and get tickets for games that I cannot even get tickets for just because they fancy it now we are in the PL

I don't see that as an unreasonable attitude to have as these fans that are taking tickets they don't have the points for that people are defending now will disappear again soon enough when it goes to shit again

The club should should hang their head in shame.a supporter who doesn't take profit from helping people

100%

So, are the corporate types whose tickets have been passed having to have ID checks and will they be banned? Or is it just the normal, everyday fan?
I think I know the answer.

This.

And the players. An overseas player’s brother (got talking to him, nice bloke) plus family of three was by me in the queue for Bournemouth.

Does every player get four tickets or are they ‘ticket sharing’ too?

But he’s helping the tossers who moan they don’t have enough points surely?

Seems like a bit of a harsh and sudden punishment to me. The club will argue that they have put out plenty notices and warnings about ID checks. Would have been better to have a conversation with them and tell them that the people using the ticket for Mags game MUST be the person who's ticket it is. So let the club know and cancel the rest that have been shifted on to third parties. Then an understanding that further games from all of these ID's will be pulled for checks. Seems overly harsh to be cancelling tickets for Mags away, for people who genuinely were using them themselves.
A lot more than 4 i believe.

They used to get 2, then up to 10 if they paid for the extras - not sure if it's the same protocol.

This, 100%. The trains especially were enormously helpful for fans (I say that having never once used them) and he did a fantastic job.

The club have been *****
There are a great many in that group who always went to aways. They will have known nothing about a few tickets been handed out to other regulars who didn't have enough points.
They have been reprimanded harshly over something that they didn't even know was happening.
And these are some of the most loyal.
St holders for years going to every away game in league one.
The club have been f***ing appalling tbh and owe the majority an apology.

Cancelling their mags away ticket.
A lot of them may have had it with the club.

It wouldn't have taken much to contact each fan individually and ask if they would be using their ticket. I'd be furious if I had my ticket for Mags cancelled and I'd been using the ticket myself all of the time.

Need some fans within the set up.

Theyve no idea how to treat fans or the sacrifices they make.

Wouldnt happen on Quinnys watch this.

Good news. Some twat trying to shaft genuine fans. Deserves the punishment coming
Wrong.

Tell me you've never been to an away game wirth SAFC in league 1 without actually saying it.

I've absolutley no affiliation with the bloke whatsoever, earned my points myself.

But.

Those tickets went to people who would sing and shout and actually go to the games when we were down there. I hope the club have managed this sensibly and those that now have a ticket as a result - i would like to think that at 40 points they'll continue to support us in the championship away - should that ever happen again.
