A number of people have told us that some with cancelled tickets have never passed on their tickets and if that’s the case this feels a bit sledgehammer to crack a nut.
Not against them trying to address the problem but some more thought could have produced a more proportionate response.
- They know a person is regularly buying a large number of tickets (say 65)
- If they had suspicions of him passing them to people without requisite number of points then did they know this via ticket id checks
- If not and it was just a baseless suspicion they could have id’d every ticket he had bought at numerous games as he’s been doing it all season
- That would have easily given them data on those that were being used correctly and those that weren’t.
- On having that data they could have cancelled the tickets for this game for those that were using theirs incorrectly.
All of this could have allowed them to show they were addressing the issue but doing it from a basis of decent data.
They may have more to come on this as one poster has said but it feels a little performative for me.
