Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

I personally think ( much as I detest Putin ) that it's time for EU / US to put something concrete on the table as to how we move forward from here...

To continue this brinkmanship on both sides is getting a bit reckless imo.

The Russians have clearly seen our intent and ability to crucify their economy completely - and would be all ears I would think

So some think like ...

1..Immediate ceasefire / withdrawal of all troops from Ukrainian soil.

2. A treaty agreement that will agree / pledge that Ukraine will remain sovereign - and able to determine it's own economic path free from Russian interference - But will pledge not to join NATO

3. A referendum in the Donbas / Crimea region - managed by agreed 3rd partys- that will pose the question....
Do you wish to be Ukranian or Independent states
If anything this has shown that Ukraine and other nearby countries need to join NATO as soon as possible.

Reactions: den
Could be fake but a phone taken from a killer Russian soldier had just recently sent a message to his mother. It said he didn’t understand what was happening. He was told they would be greeted with flowers and as a saviour and as things turned more sour they were ordered to attack everyone and everything.
Will be hard to tell from that, its quite an ambiguous source. However, given how some soldiers have literally walked into the police station to ask for fuel, or how some have just abandoned their hardware or surrendered, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

We shouldn’t be making any deals with someone who has threatened nuclear annihilation in the space of 4 days. We need to hold steadfast.

What’s that got to do with the government refusing to offer asylum to Ukrainians?

“Hmm I’ve been asked a question I can’t answer, DEFLECT!”
Last few pages again regurgitating bashing the government about the refugee situation but at least you're having fun in this thread rather than the 2 below while the stuff in the tweets below is possibly what's been happening today 🤔

Some pretty nasty videos online of what's happening to people in Kharkiv. Bad enough seeing buildings destroyed but this is dead and injured civilians lying in the street.
I've just seen those a 😞 I'm not sure on the validity of these videos but will share them anyway. I see the Evening Standard tweet has this in it's article.

Kharkiv has just been massively fired upon by grads (rockets). Dozens of dead and hundreds of wounded,” Ukrainian interior ministry adviser Anton Herashchenko said in a post on Facebook on Monday.

This is Anton Herashchenko's Facebook page who is a former deputy minister at the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs. His caption translates to this.

Kharkiv has just been mass shot from Gradov. Dozens dead and hundreds wounded!
This horror should be seen by the whole world!
Death to the occupiers!

I meant finance to buy those things but much the same
I know what you mean, but actually a lot of these things are now in short supply given the volume of people that have arrived and more will come. So better to have the items than money to buy them (which are being donated anyway).

To me there is a bigger picture to this. If we are to move forward in any meaningful way then whatever NATO style organisation emerges from this needs to include Russia too if we are to progress. A huge ask, I know, and fuck knows how we get there, but enough enough of this east/west shite.
