Same reason Minsk won’t ever be free I guess. Another very important City historically. I never realised 2 English blokes founded Donetsk and Lushank. Caused us some shit today eh!

Money probably. Birth rates are rising in the Caucus region but falling just about everywhere else. It’s one reason Putin courts them so much, permanent stream of young men.

They are also having issues with mass migration to the bigger cities. Krasnodar(I think, get them mixed up) is expanding rapidly.

Alcholism, drug addiction, suicide, abject poverty, no health care to speak off outside the few main cities, mass imprisonment/disappearing of citizens, emigration of anyone educated and rich enough to leave to countries where it is better to have kids.

Considering their gains that looks pretty diabolical. Of course the accuracy of the data can be questioned but either way they have taken substantial losses, in fighting that should have favoured them massively.

They've just brought a scheme out with subsidised mortgages and deferred military service for IT staff and no income tax for 3 years for IT companies. They're clearly struggling to retain their bright young people.

Anyone see the interview on GB news with a ex associate of Putin’s? Difficult to listen too. Sounds like the Russians are prepared to lose some of their territory, and the U.K. is first on the hit list followed by France and Germany. Surely though most of the Russian population live in 10-15 main big cities? What would Russia be if say Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kazan were taken out?
