As an aside, does anyone know what happened to the border fracas between Belarus and Poland?

Is there still a stand-off over the imported immigrants?

This level of sanctions will bite hard and quickly, so I really don't think they can reopen the stock exchange - not sure what their alternatives are.

Based on a limited amount of research and observation of others informed opinions (better informed than me anyway) it looks like their entire economy may collapse by the summer.

None of the stuff we are seeing is being censored man. We are seeing what is actually happening, and making our judgements from that. You cannot seriously believe we are being treated the same as the Russian population.

My point is that it’s being repeated over and over that they (Russian ground troops) don’t want to be there. As though every soldier rides into battle with heads held high and fighting for the cause!!
It’s normal. And won’t make any difference to the outcome…..whatever that is.

The Russian tactic of deliberately presenting fake news to make people question real news.

Ukrainian claims re Russian deaths and vehicles destroyed will probably be exaggerated as that always happens, and some videos circulating are from the past couple of years rather than this invasion but there is not a complete programme of fake news and false narratives.

He wants the entire country. In his last spewing of threats, he threatened to “end Ukrainian statehood.” I’ve seen no evidence other than wishful thinking that he doesn’t want to keep Kiev, for example. It’s like the third most important city in Russian history (due to church history). It’d be silly for an expansionist Russian nationalist not to want it.

Well, we are being told that the Russians are being sanctioned and yet I see the banks still have another 4 weeks, we are told that Ukrainian refugees can come to the UK but when they arrive they get turned away, we see videos online of Russian losses that are not from this war.

It’s all about Kyiv. As you say, a jewel in the Russian Empire’s crown. Moldova and Chisinău will be next.
 
I tell you what. I’m not easily affected or an emotional person. But watching the news and seeing little bairns that are suffering with cancer, having to spend days making their way to safety in Poland, having endured so many days/nights of the Russian attacks. Having their treatment interrupted. That’s just broken me. Ffs

Agreed. But manipulated news of the situation is as bad. At the end of the day the Russians are in the wrong 100% but the media trying to find an ‘angle’ doesn’t make decision making any easier. And I’d imagine dangerously delay or cause a hasty reaction to any situation.

I doubt that we in the west are being told 100% of the truth, but most of what we see is true. While the Russians are nearly being told 100% lies. all IMO.

They're a cultured European country, it would be best for them and Europe if they embraced Europe rather than at loggerheads with it. Maybe that's what will happen this century?

Is there a reason for the decline of the Russian population? I’ve read a few things over the years about this, but not seen any reason given?
