Ukraine need to maintain the narrative of a defensive war. Capturing Russian towns, or attacking Russian civilians would play to Russian lunatic narrative of Russia/Russians being under attack and a pretext for mobilisation.
That said, crossing the border to attack supply lines and ammo dumps would be totally legit in my book.

I am pretty sure that Putin and his mates realise what a shambles the Russian military is. After all its present condition is largely the result of the endemic corruption that Putin's regime has engendered.
The problem is that the Russian Government can't afford to admit to the Russian public that the motherland is incapable of defending istelf against a conventional NATO attack and that Putin's stupidity has actually led to an increase in the size of NATO whose troop are now positioned down the entire length of Russia's western border. Putting Russia as such a risk will be seen as a massive failure by ordinary Russians Putin has therefore has little alternative other than to continue with the pretence that Russia is stronger than ever and can take on anyone. A lot of Russians do believe that's the case but the more they commit themselves to such stupidity the less likely things are to change and the weaker Russia will come.

I used to think he was a clever bloke and he might be, but when you rule by fear alone amongst your own ranks, they will just tell him what he wants to hear rather than the reality. His biggest mistake was talking about a nuclear threat right from the start as he has no where else to go now on that front. He'd see Russia wiped out as soon as he even thought about it. Hidden subs just waiting for the call. He's fucked up. He may come out of this with some of Ukraine but Russia army and technology has been shown up. If this goes to winter months which it will, then his troops will be in serious shit.

Kazakhstan is an interesting move. Supplying oil to EU via a route avoiding Russia now. Plus increasing China ties. I bet Putin knows that if he made any move there then he'd get a call of China sharpish. They'll own that region in 10 years if not sooner.

That was a depressing watch.
If the situation is as dire as he makes out,
A. why is Ukraine allowing the war to be portrayed so much more positively in the west? If that was the narrative on mainstream media people would be lobbying their governments to do more.
B. why are we pussy footing around sending the odd missile launcher, not blockading Kaliningrad and sending troops into western Ukraine?

A. Propaganda, we shouldn't expect anything less tbf, and there seems to be a genuine belief that with better weapons Ukraine can reverse Russian gains.
B. We probably don't have them available. Our position from the start has been to avoid sending troops to Ukraine and avoiding WW3. Remember, most of the world is not supporting NATO response and western sanctions.
