Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

Just out of curiosity - what do you mean by “replacing Stewart”?

It’s inevitable now that they’ll sign two forwards, but if one of them is this left-winger type Ukrainian, and the other is an unproven and/or inexperienced “forward” (on loan or permanently), would you class that as “replacing” him?

Or do you, like me, consider “replacing him” to mean a player who we can be entirely confident will lead the line well and score goals at this level?
Same logic: let’s spend £400k on a player from Ross County with a bang average goal scoring record and replace him EXACTLY.

Have some faith in the scouts man!

They've got no excuse like. Willing to give them till the deadline to sort something regarding replacing stewart but they've had months to identify targets.

Absolutely. But we’ve been here before, in fact, we were here in the last transfer window.

We knew before the January window opened we needed at least 1 striker. We then found out before the window opened that Simms was going back to Everton, so needed 2 in. We then lost Stewart to a massive injury, and in the last few days signed Geldhart.

There was still some defence given by some on here.

I love Stewart but we are in the championship and 8 million or so is loads of money for a player at this level especially one in the last few months of his contract. We can’t afford to turn down that money imo
Small time thinking imo.... when did fans start thinking about how much money they could get for their players as opposed to how many goals they could get you in a season 🙄

A more proven player alongside aye. Not even at championship level.

Even a regular proven goalscorer from abroad will fit the bill imo.

Have faith in our scouts/recruitment team, to identify and sign effective forward options?

Are you winding me up; or did the last three transfer windows not happen to you?

Also worth noting that these scouts had nothing whatsoever to do with identifying Ross Stewart. Lee Johnson already had RS’s name in his inside pocket the day he arrived at SAFC. We just got lucky with that.

I wouldn't be surprised if we decide to keep him, get to January with hopefully Rusyn and whoever else we have and if Ross comes back and looks ok offer him an improved contract and hope he signs.
It's a gamble but selling him is also gamble apart from having the cash obviously but sell him Friday and we won't have a replacement in time unless it's happening as we speak?

I can understand them taking the £8m ish. But I cant understand if we don't bring in 2 forwards.
