Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

I wouldn't be surprised if we decide to keep him, get to January with hopefully Rusyn and whoever else we have and if Ross comes back and looks ok offer him an improved contract and hope he signs.
It's a gamble but selling him is also gamble apart from having the cash obviously but sell him Friday and we won't have a replacement in time unless it's happening as we speak?
This would be the ideal scenario

I love Stewart but we are in the championship and 8 million or so is loads of money for a player at this level especially one in the last few months of his contract. We can’t afford to turn down that money imo

As long as it’s 8 million up front and not 8 million including add ons then it’s fine with me.

We were all posting the same things two days before the January window closed as well.

Surely they’re not stupid enough to leave us without…..etc.
Aye and i think that was the last time you posted on here

Am sure after a few wins youll vanish again

I can’t see this regime over paying for someone last minute to not leave us short. They didn’t do it in January.

Ironically Stewy Donald is lambasted for doing the opposite.

I don’t think there’s a right answer. Even if LND stays now if he gets crocked or walks away for free there’ll be plenty saying they should have taken Southamptons money. If there are no suitable replacements out there the club is in a bit of a hole.
I’d like to think the club has a plan in place for Stewart leaving since there always a chance of it if they weren’t renewing his contract.

And when is that due to happen? 🤣🤣🤣

When the Saudis buy the entire Argentinian World Cup winning team to play at Sid James?
What's that got to do with FFP etc. In the EFL? There are rules, there is a necessity to try and balance the books or at least mitigate the losses, in the main ... regardless of the current Saudi led shit show. People will therefore discuss the merits of player price and sales and purchase policy. It stands to reason.

Hoying random shite questions about and thinking they fit or prove something isn't a discussion.

Credit to Speakman and co .
They have Sunderland fans acting like accountants now.
Before they came most fans just wanted a good team and be able to compete with lesser clubs like Southampton
I mean the nerve on this lad

Happy we spent money on Grigg even tho he was shite cos at least it was having a go. And wanting to spend 5m on Clarke-Harris.

Here is one for you latest accounts reveal Sunderland have zero debt and own all their assets.
Southampton are over 60 million in debt

We are well within FFP and spending a decent amount on a striker will not 'blast thru"

We are well within FFP. Done the other week

Sunderlands owners 17th richest in country . Higher than Southamptons.
Bigger club, bigger attendances , less debt

Clarke Harris has scored more this season than Geldhart has scored in his career.
So our billlionaire spending 5 million on one player is going to bankrupt us . Give you head a shake.
He is not worth 5 milliion but if he scores the goals to get us up.who cares. If he doesnt then we take a hit we can afford

Have faith in our scouts/recruitment team, to identify and sign effective forward options?

Are you winding me up; or did the last three transfer windows not happen to you?

Also worth noting that these scouts had nothing whatsoever to do with identifying Ross Stewart. Lee Johnson already had RS’s name in his inside pocket the day he arrived at SAFC. We just got lucky with that.
It bores me to death to say this, honestly, but we’ve signed 2 strikers so far this summer and a third sounds like they’re signing tomorrow. I’m sure they’re after a fourth if Stewart is going and the signings across the board that this recruitment team have made in the last 2 years have been brilliant. They’ve earned the trust of supporters, I’m only sorry you don’t agree.

I’m excited to see how Rusyn, Mayenda and a fully fit Hemir do over the season! Hopefully Stewart doesn’t go but if he does let’s see who they bring in to replace him! Should be an interesting 48 hours 😁

I wonder how many other clubs dress up out-and-out u21 signings as first team signings, and how many other fan bases lap it up,

The goalposts are always moved with this one. 'We never sign strikers' sign a striker 'ah he's more of a CF/winger than a striker' or ' they've never played in England though'

It was a joke

But seriously when someone like Leeds say finally pushes it too far are we going to see serious point deductions etc?

Am not holding my breath - although I do very much support the principle of FFP - and can’t stand Sportswashing whether the Mags and their murderous owners are involved or not
