The first thing that springs to my mind was the bizarre smell, it was like cut grass, tabs, bovril, beer and dirt all rolled into one.

If you could bottle it yed be worth a fortune.

I even went down to the ground to welcome his arrival . I feel embarrassed typing that.

The feel good lasted till the 3rd goal went in at Pompey, long bus trip home.

Nice one.
In our 3rd division campaign (first time around) I went to every away game but missed 2 home games because my night shift was from 5pm til 6am.
One of the games I missed was the demolotion of Rotherham (we scored seven iirc)
