Short term memories on here.

I'm a huge fan of RK and hope he is appointed. However, it's important to point out that his recruitment approach was the beginning of our death cycle. £8m for Anton Ferdinand and a huge roster of journey men.

The club needs to keep its head. We have taken the decision to head down the Director of Football path and we need to stick to it.
Rubbish. Anton was a good signing. Think you need to take a look at who Bruce signed when you mention journeymen.

Exactly this.

He won't be in charge of recruitment, so it doesn't matter anyway.

Personally think Speakman will move on in the summer either way. Even if we do get Keane, even if Keane does well, don’t think Speakman will recover from this. Getting Keane is a slam dunk.
Agree. Speakman is a dead man walking. Hiring Keane is a way of admitting the current system is buggered.

Defoe and Keane were to keep fans happy while the wheels fell off, unfortunately Speakman messed that up too.

What guarantees that exactly? We all thought we’d be out of this division first time asking look where we are now… signing all these young’uns hoping it was gonna work has just totally backfired, we needed youth and experience in all departments on the field. We don’t have that and have relied on young lads to get us out this division.

I'll have a 50 quid bet with you that he will 😉

I'm not sure how I feel about giving Keane full control after changing it around behind the scenes. Surely we can't keep changing it all the time, we have no stability if we give in to demands of wanting full control all the time. You want to give a manager full control of everything? Ok but you should be building on that, not chop and change when the next manager comes in.

I want Keane to come as much as anyone but not at the cost of changing the setup again, has to be some compromise there between the club and Keane. If it didn't pay off I know exactly what threads on here would be "why did we give Keane full control?" I doubt he will come without some control over things, I just hope they don't give him the full lot.
Who’s to say her will have? Everything points toward
Think he’s doing the beep test today.
:lol: Him and McCann sprinting up and down the aol. Methven there with his stopwatch wearing nowt but budgie smugglers

If he doesn't get the final say on recruitment, he won't be able to fix this mess, so he might as well not bother.

In what world does any self-respecting manager allow a career youth coach pick his players for him? It's madness.
That's the difference between manager and head coach. Johnson had a say on transfers so I don't see why the next person in wouldn't.

He should get the say of players coming in of course. We shouldn't be giving him control of the money to throw at whatever player he wants though. If he wants a player and it's way out of the budget we should not be giving in to his demands. The club comes before any manager here.

Or maybe they think it's because he has little to no experience at this level, playing or managing, with no proven track record of getting players motivated that he hasn't picked and signed himself.
So you’re saying that Lennon, McCann, Warnock and Neil have experience of motivating players under a DOF model? Interesting.
