My gut feeling is we won't give him what he wants, Speakman will be pretty adamant about not giving in, and we'll appoint McCann. The official line will be we couldn't agree terms and Speakman will be buzzing inside as the Keane threat is averted.

No knowledge, just my thinking.
Good plan, so long as Speakman and KLD want anarchy among the fans

It will be announced tomorrow tea time.

Close enough to tomorrow's game to say Dodds and Proctor will stay in charge for the match. If we lose or draw then they are responsible, Keane watched from the Director's box, if we win then the story will be Keane had given them a motivational talk in the dressing room.

Eitherway Keane takes over on Wednesday, training session, backroom staff etc. and the momentum and excitement kicks up for next weekend.
Is this your opinion or based on some info?

It really weird really f***ing quickly.

It went from people being buzzing over Johnson getting peddled, Defoe signing and having contact with Keane about the job to full on meltdown because there's been no news for 3 days.

Its not that, its the fact that we've already wasted 1 game

we go to Chelt with caretaker manager

the whole point was to get a boost for 17 games, it will now be 15 games, and there is every chance top 2 has already gone

only point of sacking Johnson was for an immediate replacement

Did KLD actually 'like' a Tweet or Instagram post, because I checked when that rumour popped up here in the RTG forums and I couldn't find it anywhere. I also had an the misses check to make sure I wasn't losing the plot, again I found no such 'like'. I hope I'm wrong, I hope the misses is wrong, but can someone please screenshot and show that this actually occurred!?!?
100% liked the post

 Mint innit.

KLD gone from hero to nigh on zero but for the human shield that is Kristkjaan Speakman, all because the deal they apparently want and are pursuing hasn't quite been ratified over a busy weekend of actual football.

I'm sorry - and at risk of receiving the dog's abuse - I don't get the overwhelming desire to give Keane the job. His managerial record is not exactly jam packed full of success is it? Sure it would create excitement around the place, and I do not underestimate the uplift the fans will get from his appointment, but seeing through the romance of it all, what has he actually achieved in his managerial career? Sure he got us up, then stabilised in the first season back, but he left us in the lurch following a 4 - 1 home defeat to Bolton and in dire trouble the following season, with us only just avoiding relegation at the end.

Surely he is one fall out with Sporting Director/Owner or whoever upsets him from walking again?

I realise many would want him for his reputation, for his no nonsense attitude and so forth, and I also realise that McCann is (to understate the situation) not a popular choice, but he did get Hull up last season and has them mid table in the Championship, so he knows the territory and knows how it's done - Roy Keane doesn't. And by the way that is not to say I support his appointment either.

Can Keane manage lower league/ lower quality players? I have my doubts.

But if he's appointed I will wish him every success to get us out of this God awful league - maybe he will give underperforming players the necessary kick up the arse they need? But maybe his patience will not stand players who are not up to the standard of those he played with during his career?
Over the past 4 years the Premier League DNA that had developed over the 10 years of top flight football (started by Keane) has slowly been eroded away by those running the club. This acceptance of the fact we are playing the likes of Cheltenham and not Chelsea has gone from novelty to annoying. Bring in somebody like McCann that acceptance, League 1 mentality will continue to develop even further.

Keane needs to get in there and remind some of these f##kers who it is they are playing for, what that means and what standards are expected at a top club. Only by having somebody like Keane will ever get that DNA, mentality back in our beloved club. F##k this “respect who you are playing” “we are in this league for a reason” BS start showing these tinpot teams they can’t rock up in front of 38k fans for a piss taking day out!

The top n bottom of it is we need calm the fuck down.

The weekend was a no-go due the Donny game. Yesterday will have been a day off and Roy was expected on ITV.

Whether he was announced first thing this morning and tea time tonight won't have any real bearing on the game tomorrow. It's come too quick.
Fuck that.

I want him announced this evening and I'll literally never watch another stream again if it doesn't happen

We dont need any more centre backs....."get beat off the worst team in tht league with Carl f***ing winchester playing centre back"

We dont need to replace Johnson, there is no rush "go to Cheltenham with Mike Dodds in charge and fall further behind the top 2"

Nothing to see here! Everything is going really well

He couldnt, the club nearly went bust mate.

We'd had to have spent an absolute fortune to get Mancini like, only way he would have come
we will have to agree to disagree, The club nearly went bust because, in my opinion he lost interest and got sick of pissing away fortunes on what became a thankless task and i cannot blame him.

Again, this is opinion, but what mancini was asking was nothing compared to failed managers and squad overhauls every other season, buy cheap buy twice is so true especially in football.

I think his heart was initially in the right place, but he got sick of funding the club. I also think if he had just paid RM what he wanted, things would have went differently and maybe would have cost him less in the long run.

anyway this is clogging up the the keane thread with side chat.

I wouldn't be averse to us appointing Keane and having a break clause that would allow both parties to go their separate ways if promotion isn't achieved. I reckon one of the sticking points is that Keane won't want to operate in our current set-up, i.e. as a head coach where he doesn't have total control over football philosophy and transfers.

People have also mentioned Manning and Edwards but they have only been at their current clubs this season so are still relatively inexperienced, imo, although they're both doing very well.

I think the real target is a Wembley final and hopefully promotion. Owt else is a bonus. Whilst we'll obviously give it a go, I don't think they're daft enough to expect automatic promotion now.

He wiped away over a 100 million quid on his last day at the club, I'd suggest thats the opposite of getting sick of funding

Definately like the tweet on the Sports bible Instagram page where it said Roy Keane is now overwhelming favourite to become Sunderland manager. Just checked and it’s still liked by KLD
