Think it's pretty clear now that what the club have said about Johnson being sacked due to an accumulation of issues rather than it being a reaction to the Bolton hammering is a load of tosh. If it genuinely was down to an accumulation of things then we'll have been sounding people out and had someone in place ready to take over before deciding to bladder him.
We can't be interviewing people for the role whilst Johnson was manager mind!
We probably had people in mind and started interviewing them ASAP.
Things then come up, potential managers may make demands , compromises may have to be reached.

If it’s right that things were ‘agreed in principle’ on Friday I take it as a very bad sign that he’s not already been appointed.

If we’re messing Keane about I think he’ll just walk away from the discussions and go back to his punditry job.

its the normal route for DOFs because the academy is likely to be the biggest part of the football depoartment and gives them experience of budgeting, managing scouts, recruitment and negotating contracts.
The one bit it deosnt give them experience of is hiring first team managers-but the chairman at a club usually wants to be part of that...

I've got no problem whatsoever with Speakman running the academy. That's his thing. It's what he does.

He should, however, not have power over first team decisions. He has zero experience at that level. None. Well - aside from the present clusterfuck at SAFC.

tbh if it was agreed on friday-the lawyuers would take untiolt oday to draw up the contract for him to sign.
