Either Keane or our structure is going to have to give if they are to work together succesfully.

How likely is this? Are we likely to offer him a 2 or 3 year deal now? or will we be looking at a short term appointment? Cannot see him being interested in that at all.

Would love to see him back here, does it fit this notional system we bang on about? does this "system" add anything?

They have a plan. They’ve got a shortlist and they’re speaking to them. It’s not pathetic at all.
What was the plan? Sack him and not have a clue who they wanted? We're now into the 2nd round of interviews and they're still not sure.

Who they wanted to take over from a bloke who they knew was on borrowed time should have been identified a lot earlier than this. Integrity though, integrity

Tin hat on, that doesn't sound as bad. It doesn't sound like there's a rigid process they're determined to follow with interview after interview etc.

It reads as if they want Keane, they're negotiating with him, and whilst that is ongoing they're doing a full process with the others to identify a back up should it fall through. What I like is the part that says the situation could change if agreement reached. Sounds very much like once Keane says he's good to go, the second interviews would be fucked off and he'd be appointed. God knows what the current sticking points are, but hopefully they're minor and if he says he's happy today then he could be announced. If we have to wait for him anyway we might as well be thorough with the others
Or it’s just Hope covering all bases cos he knows fuck all

The tweet amounts to
- Probably be Keane
- But could be someone else
- Could take a while yet
- But could happen quickly “if something changes”

Absurd journalism

If they were going to sack Johnson, this should have been done behind the scenes and the incumbent all but ready to go, before leaving us with Dumb and Dumber in charge during a crucial period.

People will say it's unethical or whatever, but 99% of clubs do it and if you don't, you end up with the week we've just had.

Keane or no Keane it’s f***ing pathetic by the club mind. Going through all this just smacks of what feeling we are above normal procedure.

It really does smack of the whole Johnson and Speakman era. Management speak, we are clever, we’ll do 50 things to get to exactly the same answer and either fuck it up, or piss the fans off in the process.

Just stop it and get to the f***ing point man.

Well second interviews are now scheduled. They’ll incorporate a PowerPoint presentation of what each candidate plans and proposes for the first 100 days and some behavioural focused competency based question sets.

Then of course there’s the pre employment medical.

Then they have to take up references. And there’s the DBS check.

And HR have to draw up a offer letter. And wait for formal acceptance.

There’s the usual nationality checks etc - entitlement to work in the U.K. etc.

Once that’s done, an induction plan can be developed and the on-boarding process can commence with a health and safety learning module and a video of the company strategy presentation.

Plus there’s the D & I Leadership workshop to attend.

Things will move quickly and the new manager should be in place within a matter of a month or so.

The club is crying out for some straight-talking football people, with meaningful experience in the game. We are currently drowning in meaningless, bullshit jargon.

That’s an option I suppose. I’m not happy either but it’s not the clusterfuck some people are making it out to be. Most clubs in this situation will have a caretaker manager in place for a game or two. We had a caretaker who won giver over control to a new manager who lost their first game in the past. Talking about sacking Speakman etc off the back of it is just way over the top.

Would you? Is that based on his experience of recruitment, strategy etc at first team level?
its the normal route for DOFs because the academy is likely to be the biggest part of the football depoartment and gives them experience of budgeting, managing scouts, recruitment and negotating contracts.
The one bit it deosnt give them experience of is hiring first team managers-but the chairman at a club usually wants to be part of that...

The whole point of a DOF model is that, in theory, it causes minimal disruption at times like this.

You have a list of managers that would be a good fit and are constantly monitoring them, ready to pull the trigger and get a deal done as and when required.

Instead we've taken over a week to appoint one of a handful of out of work managers, all of whom are well-known in terms of style of play, management etc.

The most worrying part for me is how different most of the managers we are being reported as interviewing are.

It seems we've gone from a DOF model with a set style of play/philosophy that any incoming manager would have to suit, to basically targeting any well-known out of work manager regardless of their philosophy.

I want Keane myself given the other managers we are linked with but he's hardly an innovative or unknown appointment.

This entire week is not a good look overall for the credentials of the decision-makers.

Spot on assessment.
