I mean he absolutely could be. Or we could just be waiting for Keane for some reason. What I know for absolute damn sure is that the volume of negativity towards Speakman would be about 90% less if we'd won on Saturday. People can't separate one thing from another and it leads them into an absolute spiral. It's pretty depressing in all honesty.
Exactly. Fine margins. Stewart had a header in front of goal which he should have buried first half. If that had gone in Doncaster could have collapsed.

Exactly, The narrative that some want to follow is Speakman is an amateurish bluffer who is destroying the club. By the end of today we could have Keane, Defoe and a squad full of young talent.
A squad full of young talent that’s conceded 12 in 5 games, scored 4 in that time and just lost comfortably to the side bottom of the table?

It takes some special skill to unearth that level of talent I agree.

I don’t know anyone high up in SAFC so I’m not ITK but I do have a good contact at another club so I get some snippets, more so recently due to what’s happening. Regardless of what some people say or think Speakman is not a spreadsheet man! Yes - he’s got a degree - from Derby or Notts Uni from memory but he’s Very down to earth, credible and decisive as LJ will testify!

He is highly regarded in the game - and is our link with Man City. Some posts on here over months have joined the dots on this. He is highly regarded by City and viewed as a potential successor to Marwood. He was the link to the Doyle and Robert’s loans. He has spent time with the City hierarchy recently and SAFC approve of the link as no immediate approach will be made . He was behind LJ being on the City team bus recently as VIP for their game with the mags. SAFC’s enquiry for Kisnorbo at Melbourne City ( part of City’s franchise) is a further link in the network.

He wants Keane - that’s all I know on the present issue. It came from nowhere and it is viewed as a great opportunity by the club. If he doesn’t secure Keane it will not be through want of trying - and he shouldn’t be regarded as a failure if it doesn’t happen. My opinion is that if he pulls off Keane and Defoe in less than a week he has has pulled off a major coup.

The criticism of Speakman from some fans is poorly informed. He is viewed as a huge asset by some big names in the game and will go higher in the game.

Hope that helps - no doubt I’ll get a barrage of abuse from the Speakman haters.
Will only be a major coup if Defoesy and Keano, should he come, are part of us going up.
So has your 'high up' mate put a time frame on this?

Its very negligent that, after being hammered in a (on paper) winnable game which cost Johnson his job, we've just lost an even more winnable one at home and they're even contemplating having that group of dafties on the sidleines for another.
It really is the death knell of our chances of automatic promotion.
Thry can stick the process up their arse if we finish 5th or 6th and get a harder tie in the play off semis (should we get there)
Is it better to have had McCann or Neil in place on Friday or Keane appointed on Tuesday?

Call me impatient but I think that’s not good enough.
The manager/coach needs to be with the players now. Not another 2 days away.
I agree, but people who carve out little empires for themselves are dreadfully prone to this kind of ego stroking.
Its possible Keane might even walk away, watching what's unfolding.

And if that Doncaster shot that hit the post firdt hald went in we could have lost 9-0. Works both ways this.
It does work both ways. A few games ago we just needed to defend a last minute corner against Wycome and we'd be top. Lee Johnson would still be here. Its all fine margins. I think overall we have a good squad for this division but suffered from the fact that Lee Johnson's teams always seemed to lose confidence quickly. I'm of the opinion that other, better, managers/head coaches could get us up. I would include Keane and Neil. The DOF systems makes the Head Coach slightly less important but I still believe he is the most important component in our club. We made a misake employing Lee Johnson.

Never before has a football club botched a sacking like this.

They’ve binned off a manager and then been taken by surprise that they need a new one.
If they had already lined up Johnson's successor before Johnson was sacked, aside from any legal problems that might cause, some might say they'd acted dishonourably. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. In the not too distant past I seem to recall times we've taken months to appoint a new manager. Or maybe it just felt like that, ha, ha.
