Anyone know more about speakmans background? Is he just an ex player who has done his badges and now goes on like a talking textbook? Or is there something more?
I don’t know anyone high up in SAFC so I’m not ITK but I do have a good contact at another club so I get some snippets, more so recently due to what’s happening. Regardless of what some people say or think Speakman is not a spreadsheet man! Yes - he’s got a degree - from Derby or Notts Uni from memory but he’s Very down to earth, credible and decisive as LJ will testify!

He is highly regarded in the game - and is our link with Man City. Some posts on here over months have joined the dots on this. He is highly regarded by City and viewed as a potential successor to Marwood. He was the link to the Doyle and Robert’s loans. He has spent time with the City hierarchy recently and SAFC approve of the link as no immediate approach will be made . He was behind LJ being on the City team bus recently as VIP for their game with the mags. SAFC’s enquiry for Kisnorbo at Melbourne City ( part of City’s franchise) is a further link in the network.

He wants Keane - that’s all I know on the present issue. It came from nowhere and it is viewed as a great opportunity by the club. If he doesn’t secure Keane it will not be through want of trying - and he shouldn’t be regarded as a failure if it doesn’t happen. My opinion is that if he pulls off Keane and Defoe in less than a week he has has pulled off a major coup.

The criticism of Speakman from some fans is poorly informed. He is viewed as a huge asset by some big names in the game and will go higher in the game.

Hope that helps - no doubt I’ll get a barrage of abuse from the Speakman haters.

Tell ya what, say what you like about Lee Johnson but sacking him without someone lined up to come in, costing us potentially 2 games and 6 points is absolutely criminal.

KLD will be key here not speakman. If the owner wants him in then I'm sure he will go all out to get him, if the deal is not there to be had he will move on.
I don't think speakman gets to make the call on Keane.

Honest question, of the other managers mooted, McCann, Lennon, Neil etc, do any of them play a style that fits with what the rest of our club plays? i.e. Johnson's?
I think McCann and Neil both play an attacking, high press so would both fit quite nicely. The advantage of Neil is that he took over Norwich in the January and then took them up to the Premier League via the play offs - pretty much what we want.

Obvious to see how Lee Johnson got the job initially now. Speakman would have been f***ing mind blown by things like “fire in the belly” and “pitch personalities”
“Here kristjaan, look at this Kermit gif. That’s what the players will be like when I talk about bomb alleys”

What a load of shit. He shouldn’t be a manager because of a shooting drill at Villa and his tackle gets more views on YouTube than anything else he’s done.
Take it up with Ken. There's a comments section beneath the article. The dialogue is already up & running. Get involved....

Alright Kristjaan. How's things?

Needed sorting a week ago. This dithering really is f***ing ridiculous.
A scenario could be that they planned to appoint a Neil/McCann, who were available and fitted nicely into our model. Roy Keane may have then said he was interested via David Jones and that threw all plans into chaos. It could be Keane who is holding things up.

Not cancelling the 2 games when our players had covid and not having a manager lined up has probably cost us promotion. Aren’t Birmingham a complete mess now too although i must admit I don’t know if that’s his fault?

It could be literally anything that is happening. This place is just cranking up the psychosis.

People say he doesn’t have the right temperament. He’s never gunna be a klopp type, all pally pally with the players. But look at the likes of Simeone and Conte. For me the best 2 managers in the game and as close to Roy Keanes character as you could get. From their playing style and leadership qualities as players. To their my way or the highway approach to management.

It’s important for managers to be at the right club, both my examples had spells at different places before they became successful. I’d argue Keane actually did way more than could have been expected of him first time. All KLD and Speakman have to do is a point this guy and I have a feeling the next chapter in this great old club is gunna be very special indeed.

Haway the lads,
