TBF it's no less credible than all of the rest of the totally made-up stuff on this (and other) threads that says that he's an incompetent bullshitter. Nobody on here has a clue - they're just filling the void.

That's not true. I have serious concerns about his competence and I'm basing that on facts and publicly-available info.

He has overseen a recruitment "philosophy" which has us fielding a first-choice back five (assuming Huggins was fit), which includes four players with an average age of 20 and with no full senior season between them. And we are all wondering why we leak goals like we do? I mean, really?!

He sacked a manager over a week ago with no replacement lined up, and that led to the absolute circus of having three youth coaches holding a live crisis meeting in the technical area for an hour and a half on Saturday. Not to mention three easy points pissed away.

In the meantime, he decided on Monday that it would be a good idea to leave the club with only two fit "senior" centre halves (I use the term senior loosely, as one of those two has not long turned 18). No "football person" - no actual manager with responsibility for results - would even contemplate doing something so f***ing stupid as that.

It does work both ways. A few games ago we just needed to defend a last minute corner against Wycome and we'd be top. Lee Johnson would still be here. Its all fine margins. I think overall we have a good squad for this division but suffered from the fact that Lee Johnson's teams always seemed to lose confidence quickly. I'm of the opinion that other, better, managers/head coaches could get us up. I would include Keane and Neil. The DOF systems makes the Head Coach slightly less important but I still believe he is the most important component in our club. We made a misake employing Lee Johnson.

Not sure how Keane will go as much as I still want him. Can't help but feel this squad will buckle under him. Dodds on Saturday was almost crying for the players (poor lads) because they were focused in training. Keane would have battered them.

The frustration towards Speakman comes from the fact that we are dithering, f***ing around, with Roy Keane. The other options have been well documented, they have been interviewed. They do not compare to Keane. So there's the frustration. It's because it should be so simple. Keane should be number 1 choice and this should have been sorted by now. Regardless of results recently, or even how well anyone might think we've done in the transfer window, this whole 'process' has been utterly infuriating. I am actually one of the people who think up until now Speakman has done a good job. I like the way the recruitment of players has changed. I know he's doing good work in other areas of the club too and cares about different age groups. However, I do not understand why it's taking so long to get Keane sorted. Still hoping for the correct outcome, and hoping it's soon. Get it done.

The squad has buckled anyway. What we need is someone to come in, bluntly identify the spineless players and ship them out.

If they had already lined up Johnson's successor before Johnson was sacked, aside from any legal problems that might cause, some might say they'd acted dishonourably. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. In the not too distant past I seem to recall times we've taken months to appoint a new manager. Or maybe it just felt like that, ha, ha.
Accusations of acting dishonourably are just daft though, the manager has still been sacked, so what does it bother him if the club have sorted his successor prior to pumping him? I think those accusations can be easily ignored.

Its such a tough call. I have the same fears as you. I felt strongly that Johnson would flop yet again in the play offs. Keano has the mental strength but do the team? Alex Neil probably makes more sense than Keane but would go down like a shit sandwich with many on here. I liked the comment from Speakman about football being an emotional game regarding the signing of Defoe. It is an emotional game and that's why I want Keane. Equally I'd be happy with Neil (with just a little disappointment).

It will be interesting to see IF he comes back how he handes the players, just volleying them will achieve nothing. You would think he is smarter than that, he also needs the right team with him with experience of bringing lads through, maybe we will see some of his UTD contacts roll up?

I think this squad is very decent, although patchy in some areas, with the correct organisation and motivation we should do well, but we are leaving it late.

I'd go a step further: all accusations can be safely ignored, not least those on this message board (including mine, ha, ha).

Disagree. That's not facts. That is all your opinion based on what is available publicly. You have no idea if we've already got Keane in the bag and are merely extricating his chosen assistant - or if we've made a clear and obvious play for him but, Keane being Keane, he's making us wait a bit. And as for the centre half thing, we have four on the books with O'Nien capable of playing there. The numbers are fine, the current situation is transient. It maybe wouldn't be the choice that all would make but does it allow us to get Defoe on contract while keeping within SCMP regs? I'm speculating here, of course, but that's the point. We don't know the whole picture. It's all opinion and we're filling in the blanks.
Absolutely Keane
So with only a small amount of the information available, how is what the club has done 'negligent'?
