Even if Keane doesn’t come now, I would like to think KLD has learned that his type is what we need, a huge character who can be box office, not wet fish managers full of the same old platitude. Alright we are in League one but let’s push it, “build it and they will come”. We are a League one team, we aren’t a League one club and I am fairly certain its known throughout football.
This!

It seems there’s an opinion on here in some quarters that Keane the Pundit = Keane the manager. Which couldn’t be further from the truth. Keane knows what box office is. Hence his success in the media. But he knows football.

I bet over the last few years he’s watched and rewatched every managerial genius going. Maybe I’m being hopeful but I reckon his football will be more naunced now. I have a feeling that set pieces in particular are going to be interesting.

I also (and this is more nostalgic than anything) have a feeling Dajaku is going to thrive under him. Carlos Edwards style.

My biggest hope is that he sorts out Gooch and gives him focus. Because a good Gooch (guffaw) in this league can be a difference.

My biggest hope is gooch never plays again for us tbh

I can't speak for others. I can only speak from my own opinions.
I think the point you're missing mate is that it's been an absolute disaster supporting Sunderland for a long time. If this whipps up some excitement and results in some sort of memorable few months, then so what? It could all go tits up, it could be brilliant for a little while. You lot point blank refuse to accept any other opinions on Ashley, Benitez or the Saudis. Personally I won't worry about what might or might not happen, I'll just enjoy the moment because my God they have been very rare in recent years.

As for how RK did at Ipswich….

Ipswich Town

On 23 April 2009, Keane was appointed as the new manager of Ipswich Town on a two-year contract, the day after the club had dismissed . His first game in charge came the following Saturday with a 3–0 away win over , the final league match to be played at . The following week, Ipswich rounded off the season with a 2–1 win over . In the , Keane started to sign some players, some of them from his former club Sunderland. He signed goalkeeper , midfielders and and brought in , and on loan to the club. Ipswich started without a win in their first 14 matches, making them the last team to record their first win in the whole league, finally winning on 31 October against Derby County and recording their first away win of the season on 29 November against Cardiff City. Their form gradually improved throughout the season, but Ipswich drew far too many games to come anywhere near the promotion race and they finished the season in 15th place. Many inconsistencies in the 2009–10 and the meant that Keane's Ipswich side never really challenged for promotions and as a result of a poor run of form, ending up with his side dropping to as low as 21st in the Championship. Keane was dismissed as Ipswich manager on 7 January 2011.

Taking that in and remembering his time here, he appears to favour bringing in players he has worked with previously.

You’re wrong.

Listen to any new signing. Listen to opposition fans. Listen to opposition players.

There’s absolutely no bias involved when I say that most people recognise that we’re not a third division club. The general consensus in the game is that we’re too big to be in this league.
But we are in this league mate.
AND WE CAN'T FU**ING GET OUT OF IT, NO MATTER HOW HARD WE TRY.
We were an established Premier League side. Now we are an established Third Division side, and that is how established professional people in the game see us.

Keane will want to be a manager not a coach and have full control of players coming in & out . It's up to the board if there want that or Keane is happy being a coach It's up to the two parties to sort out.i am not keen on Roy coming back but if the board pick him he will get my full backing.

Exactly right. Too many fans have just accepted the past 4 seasons and put it down to ‘that’s where we are at as a club’ like we are no different to any club in this division when the truth is we are about 4 times as big as most of the clubs in the league. The good thing about keane is he will not only demand high standards or the players but also the owners and speakman. He isn’t a yes man if he’s not happy he will say

Based on nothing.

Its been that long, nobody knows what he'd rather.

There's no way we should be getting rid of Speakman and the current setup for any manager mind

The biggest point that needs to be made, is the difference between ‘club’ and ‘side’ (or ‘team’

We’re a club that most fans will recognise as a championship / premier league club, depending upon their age.

Complete and utter weapons grace bollocks.
Why?
I live away from the North East now mate, and I can tell you that outside of the North East, our sacking of LJ. and our pursuit of RK is not even registering in the press. Nothing being said, and certainly not reported.
People aren't interested.
Mate, I'm 57, and if you break me in half, my insides are Red and White stripes.
But that really is the reality.
We NEED RK, not only to get us promoted, but to get the football world taking us seriously again , and showing what you and I , and all who follow us already know. WE ARE A MASSIVE CLUB.
