Can't get my head round this appointment (if it happens) like. Makes no sense to me. I'll obviously support whoever is going to be in charge but there's no sensible reasoning behind it just pure nostalgia. 🤷

i have agree. I thought we had a blueprint, a long term strategy. We appear to have torn that up.

I dont think a lot of it makes sense and this isn't the long term planning stuff I think we were trying to implement.

But...this club works on momentum more than any other I can think of off the top of my head. The vast majority will be giddy and that should translate onto the field, at least for a while. Whatever the case, it won't be dull.

Keane and Defoe will bring a massive level of professionalism and high standards to the club that’s hopefully what they are trying to do rather than some fat little knacker on burtons menswear getting sent off the line every week
The professionalism is already at the club now. They don’t need to bring it. Take off your red and white blinkers. What Keane needs to be able to do is coach a team to a standard that doesn’t ship a load of goals every five games.

Spot on for me mate, the last 4 have never previously and will never again get a chance at club the size of Sunderland.
Sunderland needs big characters to carry the weight of expectation big Sam was a perfect fit at the time and should be the benchmark of the kind of character we need to attract.
My initial thoughts were no way not Roy Keane but the more I think about it the more it makes sense.
Pure box office make people enjoy going to the match again get excited get the place bouncing. Hold my hand up as being part of the problem go to the match cos it’s what I do too many like me where apathy has set in.
FFS Lee Johnson man from day one acted like he couldn’t believe he’d manage to blag his way in. Talks the talk but shame he wore callipers.
Run Lee! Run!

I've never understood the difference between 'pressing' and 'trying to win the ball back when the other team have it'
...is there one?
It's just modern day bollocks.
The only way I can see how the game as moved on is through diet, nutrition and sports science.
All which Keane will have already been part of.🤷‍♂️

You'd think Keane had been forced away into a cave for 10 years or something and has forgotten what football is
And not been working in the media where he’s worked on an absolute shit ton of top level football doing analysis

The biggest issue imo is his capacity to accept other players are not him or his team mates from UTD. If he has been introspective from his past management experience he will be a changed man, if he has not this is going to be very exciting for a while and then it will go sour.

I would love to see Keane back at SAFC, the bloke is a whirlwind, full of passion, and he is smart. Fingers crossed for all involved.
We have some very good technical players like Pritchard Neil mcgeady Steward Embo and Defoe . We actually have some real quality in the squad .

I see your point mate. Just think we need a tactically astute manager (especially with our current players) and not a tub thumper. Keane isn't really the deep thinker, training ground type imo.

Does seem that way

But going off who seems to be in the running for the job, it looks like the job is to get out this division this season.

I think it's what we need mate, even if it's just until the end of the season, Keane would lift the fans, the players the club, we'd all be in it together, its League 1 and he's no mug I'm sure he'd do a job with good people around him
