well,if he does pitch up here,no matter what you'd think of the appointment you wouldn't want to miss the few games left

I wouldn't say it's low risk. It could potentially finish him off completely if we don't go up. And let's not pretend that would be an easy task from this position.

We've only got 17 games left. No transfer window. He'd have to come in, get a side together from the existing squad, and get us firing from the get go to have any chance whatsoever to make the automatics.

The greater likelihood is we go into the play-offs, and he'd have to prove himself to everyone over those three games. But again, he can only do that with what we've got. We know there's a frailty there in midfield. We know some of these lads are flaky. We know it won't be easy. Whilst I was almost certain LJ wouldn't have seen us through the play-offs, I don't think there's any guarantee that any manager in the world could. We might fall short. That's the reality we're faced with this season, thanks to mainly to the failing of Lee Johnson.

With it being Roy Keane, the returning hero, I think the expectation on him will be greater than it would anyone else - whether that be a Warnock or a McCann or some unheard of. That's a lot of weight to carry. The romantic in me absolutely loves it, but I think it really would be last chance saloon for Roy Keane the manager.

Keane did well as ROI assistant with MON, and no doubt gained further experience.

Not many against him mate most of us know what he will bring.He will along with Defoe lift the whole mood around the club.I think some people struggle with emotion and would prefer to wallow in misery.
 
This is his chance to make it in the managment.

Knows the club, the passion and what is required.

Just needs a good coaching staff around him.

Huge lift aye.

Seems to be a fair few who have got a strong opinion against, which is the whole point of this board I guess and each to their own etc.

I'm just assuming they weren't there to experience what it was like last time with the lift and knowing the team would give everything until the last whistle.

Plenty clubs have had people return and make a success of it.

To say the game has moved on is *****s. It's league 1 football ffs, if anything it's probably at the same standard as the championship 06/07.

Success at this level is all about doing the basics correct on a consistent basis.
