They beat Southampton, and drawn with Norwich, Leeds, Ipswich and also Preston when they were going well.We scraped a draw with a team that were bottom of the table, who could have been out of site the first half.
I like Jobe and think he had a decent second half but there was a point that on the face of it he made a great driving run nearly lost it and poked it to Clarke. There was an early ball on for Clarke which would have got us there quicker, he could have got close without the ball, it allowed them to regroup....because Jobe slows everything down most of the time.
Good post. There’s no way that we will be consistent any time soon though, such is the nature of having the youngest average age in the division. The last 3 matches are probably a perfect example of where we are at as a club/ squad, regardless of who the first team coach is. We could and might well have seen the same levels and results had TM still been in charge.Consistently inconsistent. The performance and result makes the 1-0 win at Hull all the more suprising and random. I never turn my nose up at a point away from home no matter who it's against but looking at our forthcoming fixtures - Preston, Newcastle, Ipswich and Hull - there's a chance for Beale to either win the fans over or lose them completely. Despite my reservations I do hope that it's the former and time on the training ground, working with the players to implement his ideas and style will have the desired effect.
He does keep hold of the ball far too long at times, when it could be shifted quickly with just one touch. Like i say, i know he's young but he shouldn't be playing as much as he is. It's only because of his surname.I like Jobe and think he had a decent second half but there was a point that on the face of it he made a great driving run nearly lost it and poked it to Clarke. Seems odd if there’s no input from him. There’s no input from Beale because he hasn’t had the chance to. Being appointed so late was a joke - he probably hasn’t had a single proper training session yet and it’ll just be recovery days between games at this time of year. If only we had 14 days with only 1 game immediately after Mowbray left when he could have been out there grafting the lads…
Under those constraints it’s probably correct to not change the system entirely and expect miracles, suspect later in January we’ll start to see more change when he’s allowed time to actually train the lads
I thought he did well second half, better than Ekwah first but if you ask me, for a young lad he’s playing to many games. The other young players deserve the same attention and confidence. He does keep hold of the ball far too long at times, when it could be shifted quickly with just one touch. Like i say, i know he's young but he shouldn't be playing as much as he is. It's only because of his surname.
White dog shit seemed plentiful in the 70’s .. what led too it’s demise ?
They beat Southampton, and drawn with Norwich, Leeds, Ipswich and also Preston when they were going well.
It’s not the end of the world.
Catapulted ? We got promoted via the playoffs from the third division and have sat comfortably just outside playoffs since we got promoted.
Creeped is a better word, creeped into play with a offs two seasons running. Hardly beyond expectations. I don’t remember Bob Murray being held in high esteem for getting us promoted from the third.
Apart from not having a striker and DCM, which are kind of basic needs for a football team of any level yes your right about the players
Surely you wouldn’t say that about the last two windows ?
What about the recruitment Alan Durban did in Peter Reid’s days. The most successful team in modern history
It's not, but there is a pattern forming over the last few months and it's repulsiveThey beat Southampton, and drawn with Norwich, Leeds, Ipswich and also Preston when they were going well.

That performance isn't the 1st of its kind. Our form is pretty poor. Let's not make excuses for itThe Christmas period is a challenge for any club.
- We played a home game the day before Christmas Eve...high pressure new manager etc. A disastrous home collapse.
- We're then on the road Boxing Day and 29th December. Mixed performances but 4 points.
We've now got Preston on New Year's Day.
- Where does the new gaffer get time to work with the players?
- What work can he do to prepare for this career defining game?
Preston are fragile and inconsistent.
The fans need to turn up on New Year's Day and roar the lads home.
Completely agree.Good post. There’s no way that we will be consistent any time soon though, such is the nature of having the youngest average age in the division. Fair point with Durban Reid.
I dunno how long Durban was in charge of recruitment in the Reid era tbh I thought it was all driven by Reidy.
There are parallels to be drawn between then and now in that when Reid started out and brought in Quinn, Alex Rae, Chris Makin… it was all great.
But later on in his reign we brought in some massive duds - Nunez being the most noteworthy but also Fredgaard, Laslandes, Flo…
There are frustrations with the model as I think it’s being taken too far which is detrimental to our chances of promotion.
But the general quality of players on the pitch compared to 3 or 4 years ago is light years.
Been like that all seasonWe had no shape, if you looked at midfield it was all over, no one knew where to play, there was no management input what so ever.
Why do people spout this nonsense about the league one play offs. We went into them as the form team in the division on a long winless run. We didn't creep in, we were in because we deserved it .Catapulted ? We got promoted via the playoffs from the third division and have sat comfortably just outside playoffs since we got promoted.

Are you talking player recruitment or staff recruitment?
Player recruitment has been light years ahead of anything I’ve seen since the Denis smith days
results are never the end of the world, it’s a worry if they thought the system we started with at Hull that didn’t work would work last night.
No because we didn't invest in a striker in JanuaryWe were never winning the league last season
He hasnt been given sufficient money to get an effective strikerKLD is hardly to blame. If your going to blame anyone blame Speakman for poor recruitment.
