Ross Stewart

Feels like a lifetime ago - bar loan players is he the only ex-player who could now fight for a place in our team? I’m really not sure Jobe would get in or anyone across the back certainly.
Very early days so this isn’t a dig, but Clarke would likely be challenging Adingra for his spot based on what I’ve seen so far.

I still can't believe we discovered him out of nowhere when we were in League One. He was completely unknown to everyone!

It was Lee Johnson who knew about him tbf to streaky, he wasn't on the clubs radar at all before we got him as manager.

Two goals and a right handful judging from the highlights, chuffed for him, hopefully he stays fit all season and bangs a load of goals in he deserves it.

I feel for him. He has one of those body types that is hard to keep fit, sort of like many fast bowlers in Cricket, where his size is just a bit too big for the level of explosiveness he naturally has. I used to tell people who hadn't seen us to watch how quick he was, because he was a genuine threat to catch defenders unawares who thought he was a classic big man.

So glad to see him scoring. A Saints fan messaged me last night to ask if I'd seen his second goal, and it was a beauty. Wish him nothing but the best unless we're playing them.

Most lads fans showing a lot of class here towards a lad who wanted away for a better deal.

We wouldn't give him a deal he deserved because he was crooked. Southampton would take that risk because they had Premier League money. That's it.

As it stands they overpaid massively. We got good money, RS got a decent payrise, Southampton are still waiting to see if he was worth the investment.

£10m for 22 games and 3 goals in 2 years. Kudos to him, imo.

SAFC and RS definitely got the best out of the deal. I wish him all the best, and hopefully he can go back to being the best on Earth injury-free.

We got a great deal for him and he's definitely was one of the key reasons we made it out of League One so I'll always hold him in the highest regard.
Was absolutely over the moon when I saw he scored twice last night. Hope he shows us what could've been if he stayed fit under Mowbray.

Think it was Brian McDermott who was doing some scouting up there and he recommended LND to Johnson rather than it being a case of LJ knew all about him and plucked him out to us.

I'm pleased for him but I'll be amazed if he makes it till Christmas without picking up another injury and having more time on the sidelines.
