Ross Stewart

This 👆it was a great bit of business for us but I think some perspective is needed in the adoration for the lad. He was at the club for 5 minutes and banged in a few goals but we have had hundreds of other players who have done far more for the Club albeit in different circumstances . I wish the lad all the best but I find myself somewhat lacking in my view of the lad compared to some people on here.
He was really good for us like. There’s no two ways about it.

He was but so was Kevin Phillips. So was Tommy Sorenson, so was Marcus Stewart, Julio Arca, Cisse, Darren Bent, there are scores of fantastic players who gave great service to this club. Players who don’t seem to merit the same aclaim from fans on here.
A generation thing. There are loads on here who never saw any of the above plauy.

Even David Connolly. Scored the goals that got us promoted from this league and linked up well with Murphy and Stern John. Hardly mentioned on here.

Watched him v Bournemouth and he couldnt trap a bag of cement. Had a first touch like Peter Sutcliffe. Injuries and the step up seems to have been too much for him. At least he'll have a few quid though.

Are you for real? How long ago was that? And you still remember it? 😂😂
My memory is generally crap except for extreme performances, that is the best and worst games. I could be wrong and there's plenty on here that will correct me but this wasn't that long ago, under Keane, and he was magnificent on the day - think we scored 5 and they may have got 2 or 3.

Can take players a while to get backup to speed when playing football at any level after being out a while. Cattermole was a prime example, plays well for a while, gets injured, misses a few games, comes back and is shite for a few games before starting to play well and then getting injured again....

Context is everything as you say, hence the respect for him. In context he was the most important player for us since Defoe.

You camt put Marcus Stewart in that group of players man . Stewart did good for us but he's no Phillips or bent in our history. Where Stewart came from to get on that list is baffling

👍 It’s worked out well for us and Stewart as he got his contract to set him up for life (maybe not as well for Southampton yet) but a lot of our supporters need to remember he refused to commit to the club.

Had he signed the contract we offered he could have earned a lot of money here when he was injured in the last year. His choice.

Anyway we move on. We have lads here who want to be here and we should support them. Ross who?
