Ross Stewart

We had their pants down one of the rare occasions we have come out on the right side of a transfer deal. Like a few not sure he will make it back from here.

His last 3 major injuries all non contact Saints took a gamble and it’s not come off at all.

Very good player for us, and came across well on STID

don’t blame him for his decision, understandable.

Hope he comes back and does well
Well said.
Also there are no guarantees the latest injury would have occurred had he stayed here. Perhaps Southampton rushed him back too soon? Maybe we would have given him more time? We’ll never know.

It showed why footballers at a certain level need to look for that contract that sets them up for life. Charlie wyke another. Much as I’d have liked both to stay (assuming Stewart got fit) it’s totally understandable why both left.

Yeah exactly. If you’re still working your way up and it happens it’s effectively like having a winning lottery ticket and losing it. Players have 10 / 12 years and up to a certain level where the money almost doesn’t matter, they need to make as much money as possible

Even a knarled busted old clock is right twice a day....a fit stewart would be the first name on the team sheet...you think it was good business as if they knew he would break down..i assure you that was not why they sold him .it just looks better than it was because of his injury....

They didn't know an unfit Ross Stewart who'd just missed a year due to injury, and wasn't expected return from an injury for another 3 months after they sold him was injured?:lol:

Give over. Have a think about it, man.

You'd think Southampton would have put something into the deal to protect them in some way given his recent injury record. Certainly, if this was Sunderland buying a player with so obvious issues I'd hope we got them super cheap or there was payments based on number of games played etc.

Hindsight makes you look like a king mate !If you think the price was not contingent on his ultimate fitness well your an .........(ill let you fill in the blanks)

At last some common sense enters the arena!not the message many believe on here as they would rather believe the "we were so brilliant" oh "how stupid" southampton are narrative rather than the more prosaic reality of these types of deals...ffs these deals and players have to be insured to play!..lets wait for the accounts!

Do you think that those at the club thought he was fit like? I honestly don't see what your point is other than that?

I thought it was well known at the time he'd never recover fully. It was posted by the vast majority. Why would the club not know?

I posted about his injury being potentially career ending multiple times. It's not hindsight, it was just clear and obvious to anyone with half a brain. It wasn't a minor injury, the club and (most) fans recognised this and took Southampton for a ride with £10m.

A couple of examples of me, who knars nowt about the ins and outs (other than it was obvious he'd be a crock), from a very quick search:
-Here.
-And here.

What actually was his injury mate? big money deals are big money deals and if you think there done o "oh i hell be all reet man divneee worry" sign cheque here basis your the one with half a brain ..We wil get nowhere near 10 million for him and the accounts will prove this! You can swallow the bollocks from the club if you want *the fans knew"ffs listen to yerself? the physios and doctors and the insurers were oblivious but "the fans knew" dear dear me

He has, and had a recurring issue with his Achilles. Or according to you they're just making it up, like.

What on earth is that last sentence? Which doctor or physio was oblivious to his injury? Are you saying he wasn't actually injured and it's some sort of conspiracy?

To get this straight, you think that:

I didn't know he was injured, or didn't know his injury was bad (despite being out injured for a year) with a very serious injury.

When I said it at the time his injury was bad it was just a lucky guess, and compared him to other players with career ending injuries it was coincidence. It's just fortunate that hindsight has proved me to be correct.

Neither club knew he was injured, the physios and doctors were all oblivious to his injury. Southampton signing him wasn't a massive risk.

Sunderland AFC didn't know how bad the injury was, despite having physios and doctors at the club monitoring him, and actually releasing updates on his injury.

When Sunderland AFC received the bid, they didn't take into account his (apparent) injury and just jumped at the chance to sell him - our best player - for £10m.

Sunderland not only didn't know about his injury when they sold him, but both Southampton and Sunderland (for some reason) lied about the fee the player was sold for.

Most of that is hogwash mate !show me a link where the club has stated we sold him for 10 million?..the accounts will show the true figure! " the fans knew" ffs .... we wont agree mate so just move on ..all i ask is wait for the accounts to come out for that period and see how this croc does next year!

It was £8m. Apologies for misremembering.

Why aren't you answering any of my questions? I want to agree, but I can't unless you answer, surely?

Why can't fans understand how bad an injury is when there's so many examples of said injury being career ending to multiple players? What's your issue with me predicting that his injury would have a huge effect on him, and being evidently correct?

Worked with a lad who was on the books with Ross County. Says RS was always injured and that we did well to get return we did from him.

Still, I don't blame the club for selling him and don't blame the lad for leaving. Hope he gets his Prem dream and does well.

Show me a link where the club has said they got 8 million , not a reporter the club? "how did the fans know" exactly about the ins and outs of his injury?Conspiracy ?what fekking conspiracy ?. the injury and his fitness would have been analysed by specialists ,docs ,physios ,insurers and a prediction made on probabilities of his fitness to play and recovery from the injury and the price and payments deal would have been arranged around that ........its clear that the fans think we did some sort of Machiavelian fast one and took southampton as fools ......the docs and phsios were idiots ( harmed their reputations)as all they had were the facts yet the fans knew He was a croc based on what?i would state a giant slice or hindsight!with a topping of ignorance!...Achiles injuries are fixable .. curing chronic tendonitis less so ...i have nee idea whats wrong with stewart but some HC professionals would have put their reputations on the line during this deal and they dont do that without evidence or should they have just asked the fans?

He’s an awesome player when fit but as people have said, it’s going to be tough to come back. Personally I’d love to see him give the prem a crack but as transfers go, this looks excellent for us. It’s a shame we never really replaced and became obsessed with a style of play that doesn’t service strikers.
