Ross Stewart

it wasn bad luck for southampton...they chose to overpay for him...

speakman doesnt idenitfiy signings...he has no background in that and its not a DOFs role...stuart harvey is the player identifier..though stewart was identified by lee johnson's mate
So what does speakman do?
Contract negotiations?

Most people said it at the time it was good business. £12m for a 28yo off the back off a serious injury. Even if he’d scored 30 I’d have said it was good business. Inevitable as well, he didn’t want to sign a new deal so was either that or lost him on a free.
As i have said the figures bandied about are all (including mine)rumour but i doubt Southampton paid 12 million for him !Does anybody know what his injury is ?TBH i think a lot of comments are hindsight biased and try to portray speakman as some sort of genius for getting 12 million from a stupid Southampton....

The fella did more than most to dig us out of our lowest point in history. Hopefully he gets fit and scores goals to keep Southampton up. One day kids who were at the Play Off Final will tell their grandkids about The Loch Ness Drogba. It's why he'll always be a legend here.

I doubt anyone on here on here has done that, it's your Speakman paranoia running free and you're forever breaking your neck to paint him in a negative light. Just let it go man, for better or worse he's here and will be for some time to come.

You need to get out more mate !and your wrong about what people have posted on here!....and may i say your a bit over the top with the paranoia malarkey ... I look at what people actually do and not what they say they are going to do ,look at the facts and all i see is missed opportunities and flim flam from speakman....

Not taking the Stewart transfer into account, in the grand scheme of things £12m was not bank breaking.
Southampton did get promoted after buying Stewart (with the often talked about £100m ticket to the PL) so I would hardly accuse them of being stupid (or more stupid than us) 🤔

Stewart might be worth a £3m bid?

Can't believe anyone would seriously want Stewart, he's had 11 league starts since the play-off final.
I'd potentially take him on loan with an option to buy for a modest price. But I certainly wouldn't be wanting him back for a fee, not unless he proves his fitness over a sustained period.

Catch up? Most were signed on low fees with big sell on clauses.

I just think we've got a ceiling figure of around 3m or so that we'll not go over for a player.
Bare in mind weve still signed like 45 players since KLD arrived. Albeit plenty frees, low fees, loans etc but it all add up with wages etc. not sold many in that time.

Agree with £3m cap like. Probably will go up gradually if we sell for more ££ or go up.

exactly..he line manages the head of recruitment, the head of academy, the first team coach, the head of medical, the head groundsman, the kitman, and negotaites the deals..stuart harvey is the head of recruitment..worked with mowbray at blackbrun where mowbray promoted him to a more senior recruitment role there before he came to SAFC..

I said at the time if he wasn’t going to sign a new deal we should cash in. The figures are all out there. £8m up front then add ons rising to £12m (including promotion add ons)
