This is building momentum now he's setting himself against his critics and I think he believes driven by supporters ! I unfortunately think this might all come to a head if we fail badly on Saturday

He was obviously irked at the suggestion his 352 doesn’t work

It doesn’t mind

The system might be a good one (we don’t know) but when it’s clear we don’t have the players for it, and it also isolates our better ones then it shouldn’t take the fans to point that out.

He’s turning into Moyes Mk2. He just needs to be honest, brave and get through it

Still hope he makes it work, but when they start biting out the fans it doesn’t tend to end well, irrespective of club

I caught the start of Total Sport tonight and Barnes said it was obvious he’d hit a nerve with the question.
Barnes said before last nights game that regardless of the result he gets the impression that Saturday is a huge game for Ross in fact he said in his view it’s a game Ross has to win.

Suggesting that formations don’t really matter is a frankly ridiculous comment. The formation is possibly the most important part, it’s your plan and it dictates how the match is played.
It’s fundamental in team sport. It sets out where players are supposed to be and what they are supposed to do at any given time during the course of play. He hasn’t really considered the question or his response to it.

There's a section of our support who don't like hearing home truths. They're all over this thread, outraged that he has dared to question them.

What he said is exactly what happened. Tried a new formation that didn't work, if he stuck with it he would get called worse than shite. Changed it and found something that does work, gets people criticizing him anyway.

The definition of "damned if you do, damned if you don't".

Someof our fans need to grow up and learn they're not above criticism.

"as Sunderland manager you're damned if you manage the club to the lowest league position in their entire history and damned if you don't get them promoted despite having support, backing, resources, facilities and opportunities that most managers would be delighted with"

Tidied.

Let's see how we do in the next 3 games jack and then we can maybe evaluate these kind of comments.

Give over. We both know if we win the next three you will still be moaning and wanting him gone.

Don't pretend you are an objective observer at this stage. He gets credit for absolutely nothing from the usual crowd in here.

Do you think what he done last night really worked?

I thought we were pretty shit until the best player in the league came on and won the game for us. Without mcgeady we're awful!
