looks they're trying to recreate what shields council did with south marine park, good on sunderland for looking up to shields for inspiration...

the chris mullin diaries are littered with examples that he records where he came across constituatants who berated him & local government for not doing x, y, & z - whilst their elected officials were doing exactly x, y & z... i don't think its unique to sunlun either, its perhaps a british thing...
