Roker near Sunderland

Got nothing to do with the a19, that was put there and it split Washington road up which is in Sunderland and where nissan now sits for example. Herrington park directly opposite the monument is also in Sunderland. Its Sunderland but a few old gannies online are getting the hump because they want to live in Durham or they are mags
Yep, the western side of the A19 where Nissan is, is still ‘proper’ Sunderland - Nissan’s postcode is SR5. It’s not until a bit further west towards the old train line that it ends and becomes Washy.

Historically Whitburn has always been part County Durham and if you look at an early C15th map you won't see South Tyneside on it at all. If we organised a "special military operation" Sunderland could annex Whitburn within three days.
Needs to be done as does gateshead

Penshaw Monument

Penshaw Monument lies across the River Wear to the south of and is within the It is an imposing reminder of the Lambton family (see also ). The monument is a Victorian copy of the ancient temple of Theseum in Athens, it is in fact half its size and can be seen clearly from parts of west Durham, , and as far south as the Stang Forest in .

Penshaw Monument is in the City of Sunderland.

Last year my wife's sisters husband said his father was born in Newcastle. I said I didn't know that, what part of Newcastle was he born in. He said Chester le street!

The thing is there are lots of people who don't realise Sunderland is on the coast. They know ships were once built in Sunderland but that was because there is a river running through it and the ships were built on the river. I've had mates come up from Portsmouth who were amazed there were sandy beaches in Sunderland and also a scouser who thought Sunderland was on tyneside.

There's another thickie who agrees with her and says he lives in penshaw and says it's in Durham. Someone pointed out he had 'Lives in Sunderland'on his bio 🤣, old account apparently. Bit like flat earthers from all around the globe

I used to work with someone from Wolviston who used to allude to being from the North Riding, talking about shopping in Northallerton and Yarm.

I developed my "am I from Teesside" test as a response, basically if there's a chemical leak, do you have to shut your windows.

People like that a real twats . A full of shit bewer moved into our village and told everyone she was from Cheshire . I asked her where abouts, she said "Burslem"

I was at Uni with a lad whose girlfriend had a flexible residence that meant she could be a Scouser when the red football team won anything, but be from Chester when talking about housing or shopping. She lived near Birkenhead and Wallasey.

Another one

I don't think beauty is just Countryside and Wildlife. I find beauty in the Industrial side of life. Ryhope Pumping Station,Nr Sunderland, run by Volunteers. Magnificent Beauty in Engineering and Architecture.

Surely Ryhope is Sunderland 🤣
