Regis le Bris - confirmed

The fact that some people on here think that Dan Neil is the answer absolutely baffles me
He should at least be given the chance to see if he is the answer!!!

What's the question btw?
I see the resident football guru, who thinks Lewis Miley is a better RB than Reece James, is sharing his unmatched knowledge with us. We're so lucky 🥰

Bloke got us promoted in his first season and currently has us 7th at the midway point in the PL.

Not good enough for some though.

RLB is a boring manager who doesn’t make exciting changes.

Leeds I’m still not sure why they shut up shop and time wasted for a point. Weird but we were so crap we couldn’t press and create anything in the last 10 mins when they did it. We simply don’t have a creative spark or PL quality striker.

You are raging that we’re above you mind and comfortably beat you.

Sold your soul for a league cup

Ok, so you were happy with the second half tactics and performance?
I wasn't thrilled but it was generally okay. I don't think it was a question of structure or tactics, but rather personnel and performance.

You could argue that the Leeds equaliser actually results from us pushing on for the second. Cirkin is nowhere to be seen as he was on the edge of their box before the turnover, leaving Xhaka to cover too much ground as Leeds break and put the cross in. If we were indeed sitting back and holding out as you put it, that doesn't happen.

Leeds put us under the cosh and we struggled to get the ball out. It happens. We surrendered the ball too cheaply and struggled to pick up second balls. I think that's players and performance rather than coaching and tactics.

We rode it out and made changes, and eventually got to grips with the game, especially when DCL went off. They never really offered anything after that.

Ultimately we didn't have our best side out, and a couple of regulars - Hume and Brobbey - struggled. That's a personnel problem and it affected our game.

If Brobbey had made more of those chances, we could have had the game sewn up before half time.

In all, a decent point all things considered, still unbeaten at home going into the New Year, 7th in the table. Let's move on.

Best head coach we’ve had in years. Possibly the most tactically astute in my lifetime (supported since 1992) and still folk come out with crap like this.

Dear god.
Spot on. These people out themselves as clueless or tools masquerading as SAFC supporters.
Each point gained by SAFC must be like being nailed to the cross by the sad fuck jawdies. Still below us going into the new year….

Dear god.
All of this.

The longer this season goes on, the more convinced I am that this is the best we've ever had it top to bottom at the club, and this is only the start.

The only thing that could possibly ruin it now is dimwitted fans with itchy feet and big gobs.

We didn't need a PL striker in the derby because your £80,000,000 German gonk did the scoring for us.

By the way, your rage at being below Sunderland in the table (all season) and the derby defeat has manifested a fake persona in your head to the point you've joined a SAFC forum to pretend to be a fan.

You've also done this around the Christmas holidays. A time of joy and coming together with family.

Seek professional help as you clearly have a mental issue.

The subs changed the game?

We were getting overrun in midfield and he had Neil on the bench. Hardly rocket science

I agree that we were overrun in midfield yesterday, but it's probably the first time this season where Le Bris might not quite have got it right. Saying that, it was difficult to find an obvious solution with our lack of defensive options on the bench. Had Neil come on, that would have been another player who perhaps isn't quite at the level required at the moment - to add to Cirkin and Rigg who both started.

I need to watch it back, but I thought Leeds changed their shape a bit and we struggled to deal with it. At one point they had Ampadu, Stach and Aaronson up against Xhaka and Geertruida, and after Rodon went off it often seemed to be Ampadu, Stach and Tanaka. Several times Stach wondered free into the channels unmarked and he nearly punished us a couple of times. Then when we picked him up, we left Tanaka in about 10/15 yards of space - at one point Mukiele stepped out of defence and came right up to the edge of Leeds' penalty area to deal with the threat. At the same time Xhaka was also extremely high up, leaving us very vulnerable if they beat the press. Even for the goal we lost our shape, however that was more down to poor decision making from Cirkin and a lack of cover that we might have got from Sadiki.

I was struggling to see a way of adressing the problem though. If we'd reverted to a back five, Hume could have stepped into midfield like he often does at right wing back, but it would have meant a big reshuffle. The more likely solution for me would have been to ask Le Fee to play deeper, more as an '8' alongside Geertruida with Xhaka sitting just behind. Le Fee was getting no joy going forward due to how compact the centre was, so I don't think it would have hindered us too much going forward. Our joy only ever really looked like coming from out wide.
