Re-waxing a Barbour jacket

What a clart on man.

Melted the wax, sponged it all over the jacket but I obviously haven't rubbed it in enough or I've used too much wax.

I've had the hairdryer on it and rubbed the wax in as much as possible, then had it laying on brown paper weighted down then given it the hairdryer treatment again.

It's much better but is caked in wax. What can I do? Would hoying it in the washing machine for 20mins be advisable?

DO NOT PUT IT IN THE WASHING MACHINE!

If you do, the wax will clog everything up. You will need a new machine.

You would be better off paying Barbour or another to wax it for you.

Thanks.

I stuck it in the washing machine (without detergent) before I re-waxed it to try and get the musty smell out, but there was basically no wax left it on by that point.

Did you try singing while you did it ? Where do you think the expression "Wax Lyrical" came from !

Get a proper coat.

Barbours don't look good on anyone and are a right clart on to maintain. Wax for waterproofing ffs, are you from the 1800s ?

More hairdryer.

I ended up with an excessive amount of wax too and I went back to it after a few days with the hairdryer. I eventually got there.

I don't think initially I spent enough time blasting it with hot air.

if selling on vinted, the punters probably wouldn't care if it was properly waxed or not, I sold a coat that hasnt been washed since I bought it 3.5 years ago and they didn't give a fuck/ had no idea based on their review.
