Rafael Benítez

Wouldn't be surprised, Caulkin seems to think it's likely but the finer details are still being hashed out. Sounds like Carr is on his way out, which would make me think that the transfer committee is being sacked off. There's been positive noises from Perez, Mitrovic, Townsend (and a few fringe players) but the likes of Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Janmaat, Mbemba will likely be sitting down with Rafa to see if;
a) he wants them,
b) they want to stay
c) the finance side of things.

I know there's a decent portion of the sunderland fans who don't rate Rafa, but I'm genuinely excited about the prospect of having a man with his trophy laden CV managing my club, after years of employing men with nothing but failure on theirs.

The Rafaaaaa hysteria is comical, but from the flipside of the argument, I can certainly see why he compares well to

Turkey neck Glenn Roeder
Bent nosed Souness
Smarmy Pardew
Kinnear, who I don't think even Rotherham would have employed!

Carvaahhhhhhhh

at about this time next year after scraping into the play offs and losing the semi final. It will be ever so hilarious.:)

He also compares well to Hughton and Keegan and every other manager since Robson, imo

Won the Super Coppa Italiana in 2014, but that's essentially like a Community Shield, last "proper" trophy was the Coppa Italia in May 2014.
When was the last time he won a trophy by being manager throughout the whole competition and not just coming in for the last few games?

But will the expectations go through the roof now and put him under pressure?
Ah, the delusion myth, how I've missed thee.

Our expectations will be to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. That's it for now.

 Are you going to deny him every trophy win? His trophy cabinet remains impressive and even if you say the Super Coppa Italiana doesn't count and the Chelsea Europa League doesn't count and the Coppa Italia doesn't count, he's still got plenty of trophies. Certainly more than most managers in England's top two tiers.

I really can't tell if you're been serious here.
I am. Keegan's second reign was doomed to fail and Benitez's CV does compare favourably to Kevin's and, I can't believe I actually have to say this, but Rafa Benitez's CV does in fact compare favourably to Chris Hughton's CV.

Makes nee difference when he's now managing your batshit crazy club.

No, I'm not saying they don't count, but it seems a lot of the trophies he has won (since Liverpool) are one offs, or ones where he has come in at the latter stages of the competition and managed a side put together by someone else for a few games to win the competition.

So, do you know what was the last trophy he won by managing a club throughout the entire competition?

Can you see why, using terms like "one offs", or "a side put together by someone else" might come across as you dismissing their validity?

No, I'm not sure when he last took a team through a competition from start to finish. I'm presuming you do?

Lose their first two games and the bedsheets will be out in August. Allied to comments like 'we never wanted him, it was just the media.'
