There's an increasing number of fans, including myself, who are disenchanted with Rafa atm. Bizarre tactics, and the vast majority of his buys have been garbage. He'll always have my support over Ashley, but he's certainly not the be all and end all.
Out of interest do you know if is there a point this season when Benitez’s clause, either from his side or the clubs side, expires.

I see Richard Keys is winding all the knackers up over on Twitter again this morning.
They last won a domestic trophy in 1955. I can’t believe what Benitez did last night. Why? He’s got the tools to have a go at winning the LC - cement his place as a Geordie hero & make me wrong. Except I’m not.

I don't hinny, his contracts up at the end of the season though. Him and Ashley won't be there next season unless there's a dramatic turn of events. One of them will go and i know where the clever money will be bet.
Cheers, I just wondered because if there was it could mean him leaving/being asked to leave sooner rather than later.
I agree as to who will probably still be there

Winning trophies means sod all to the average fan. It's the love for your club, supporting through thick and thin. Be great to win something, but if it was down to winning trophies, 90% of fans might as well pack in and take up knitting.

You have a point I am enjoying this season in league 1 so far watching my team win and play good football when we were in the premier league it was mainly depressing and shite

Serious question, but why is he a busted flush all of a sudden? He got a shower of shite to 10th place last season despite having to sell to buy and was praised by everyone in football for doing such a good job last year, now 4 games later( two of them against top four sides) he is busted and Newcastle fans should be demanding his sacking ? Yes last night was a shambles but you don’t get sacked based on two bad results in a week. Absolutely no logic at all.
a shower of shite that cost more than 7 other teams in that league (or 9 at the start of last season). he did a decent job but it wasnt a miracle like you lot believe.

IF they were to be relegated and/or IF Benitez goes they have few players they could sell for any sizeable fee like the players Benitez had to sell.
That could leave them in bother unless Ashley bankrolls them:)

He brought much of said shower in for £60m and spent another £45m at the start of last season

Not saying he is a busted flush at all, simply cannot square the infatuation Newcastle fans have for him and the flat inability of a huge majority of them to even consider criticising him or his approach.

He failed in his job to keep them up when he first came in, succeeded in getting them promoted at the first attempt (with significant support) and succeeded in keeping them up and securing a good finish the following year with less support.....congrats, well done but world class....nah

As I said just don’t get the infatuation

Talksport this morning was full of deluded mags.
Without exception all were blaming Ashley whilst admitting the Scum team last night should have been good enough to beat Forest.
Not one blamed Rafa and his tactics which is the real problem.
Why can they not see that they were mediocre before Ashley came along?
They had already hounded out Sir Bobby and Souness before Ashley arrived.

Is it not just a simple as they want MA to spend in an effort to keep Benitez at a club which is clearly beneath him: pretty sure that stretching to get players like Rondon wasn’t the dream that was sold...

Like us, a one club city in a big metropolitan area will always be well supported. I have no idea what makes them think they deserve better. Their sense of entitlement really is odd, and it’s hard not to lap up the sound bites.

I thought that was common knowledge but I keep seeing Mags respond to the question of why doesn’t he leave if he’s so unhappy (prompted by his incessant twisting) with ‘because he loves the fans’.

I would say having to pay £6m out of his own pocket to walk is a far more likely reason.

Exactly.

I’m sure if that clause didn’t exist he’d have walked long ago.

As things stand, Ashley has him by the bollocks. He knows he won’t walk so can let him have his rants and hissy fits knowing he can’t do anything about it until at least the end of the season.

Mediocre? Before he came we had some great sides, playing regularly in the Champions league, finishing in the top 5 quite often. We've been relegated six times in our history, twice under Ashley.

and were a club close to going bust due to spending way over what you lot could afford. I didn't see many banners or demo's when Ashley bailed your lot out...
