At the end of the day it'll all come down
to one thing, this might actually help him when he meets Ashley
Except he’s apparently never met with Ashley since the day they won the championship. Caulkin reported this morning that there were calls and e-mails yesterday beteeen the club and Benitez’s people. Ashley doesn’t sound like a man busting a gut to encourage him to stay or surely he’d be meeting with him face to face.

I was just using the self imposed Mag barometer of crowd size means all for this one.

So what they going to do when teams keep building these new grounds dwarfing theirs and they're restricted by some listed houses to increase the shit tip. I'm assuming attendance then won't come into it? Christ even we could end up with a bigger ground if we get our shit together.

Yep he';s not meeting with Ashley,

Benitez is in talks with Newcastle managing director Lee Charnley about his future at the club while West Ham, who have said they want to make an appointment in the next 10 days, await the outcome of those negotiations.

Benitez, who is a popular figure on Tyneside after guiding Newcastle to promotion last season and then to 10th in the Premier League, has a year left to run on his current deal and West Ham would have to pay compensation of at least £6m — Benitez’s annual salary. It is understood he is looking for an £80m transfer budget at St James’ Park this summer.

Interestingly Benitez on our owners (who some have said he wouldn't work for) -

“I have a lot of respect for West Ham because, when I was in contact with them, they were really good and professional,” while Sullivan said: “Rafa Benitez was within three hours of signing for us.

“Every clause in his contract was agreed and then he went to Real Madrid. It was a real blow because he is a really experienced manager in England and did really well in Italy.

“We had an agreement in place but you have to pick yourself up, look who else is available and pick the best you can.”

you don't think he would be concerned about what calibre players he could sign?

strange

As I said it's down to Ahsley, either he gives Rafa what he wants, or he will quite possibly walk

No doubt once Unai Emery arrive for his interview this afternoon he will be installed as favourite anyway

I don't think that the kind of player that would turn down a chance to work with Benitez at Newcastle because of shopping for his Mrs, is the kind of player Benitez would want to sign. And Benitez wouldn't suddenly be able to sign Dybala at West Ham, because it's still West Ham. Neither club are likely to be signing superstars.

Agree that it's up to Ashley to get this sorted.

Ashley's probably offered him to West Ham

Definitely not, it's probably the biggest factor. Foreign players want to either be at the big 5 or 6 clubs and if they can't then they want London. It will be far easier to attract anyone to London than it would be the North east.

Outside of the North East and even inside to an extent it's seen as an absolute shit hole that no one would want to live there.

As much as we hate to admit it, we're nothing in terms of the footballing world, all Sunderland, Newcastle and Boro, anyone who thinks any of those clubs have any relevance they're massively deluded!
Both our clubs have managed to attract players to the North East. Ba, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Bent, Gyan, etc.
It's a factor, of course it is, but I think it's hugely overestimated. All things being equal, would a kid from Yeovil rather play for Newcastle or Fulham? Sunderland or Brentford? There are far far more factors than location, and much much more important things to consider before the standard of shops.

Just out of curiosity how many of those players hung around for more than a year? They were used as a stepping stone club as the players didn't want to be here.

I know for a fact Wijnaldum would openly say when at Newcastle he was there that as soon as an offer from a big club or London club came in he would leave.

As for a young kid from Yeovil, if you ask that question in 2 weeks should Fulham get promoted, i'd say he'd choose Fulham!

I do t get this hysteria over Benitez and am not bothered whether he stays up the road or goes but I don't see him going to West Ham.
There's troubled waters at that club and I just don't think he would fancy working for the Dildo twins.

Not sure of the chances of this etc but what I do know is that it would provide absolutely top class entertainment
We would see weeping and wailing on an unprecedented level

I’m not fussed over Benitez, he done well to keep them in the league but I’m also not blinded by the money he has spent to keep them there.
Flood alerts will be wailing if he goes like
