I think it's more complicated than that. Aguero isn't going to swap Manchester City for Arsenal, no matter what his wife says. Tarkowski won't swap Burnley for Fulham should they come up, just because the Kings Road has loads of high end shops.
I wouldn't put the Mags in the same boat as Man city

And Mrs Benitez has lived in the Wirral for years. She aint upping sticks and moving to London
managed ok when he was at Chelsea

London - Liverpool 211 miles
Newcastle - Liverpool 174 miles

I doubt that small difference would be any sort of game changer

Exactly. They didn't move when he was in charge of Chelsea, they've not moved to Newcastle now.

... neither would I.

So West Ham being a London club is an irrelevance.

not when it comes to attracting players or the fact he himself used to live here

Unbelievable that this thread is at the very top of the first page with 300+ replies since last night.

We are setting ourselves up for a massive fall again if this rumour doesn't go anywhere. Remember the last thread about Rafa last year? Absolute embarrassment that ended up locked.

No. I'm responding to the comment that any managers wife would want to go to London.

Care to explain why managing in Madrid and Italy were not a problem but London would be?

"Twice in the past week, I’ve asked Benitez if he will allow his heart to rule his head when deciding his future.

He didn’t really answer my question either last Friday in his pre-match press conference or on Sunday afternoon"

I'd see that as a cause to worry rather than the opposite

I#'d see this as a cause for huge embarassment

That's probably the full kit wanker who is about 60, wears one black trainer, one white trainer, fake tattoo sleeves and ironically refers to Sunderland fans as sad mackem bastards.

I've seen other photos of him holding up home made signs like that.

It's roughly the same distance from the Wirral to London as it is from the Wirral to Newcastle.

He may not leave Newcastle for West Ham, and if he stays, that won't be the reason.

Definitely not, it's probably the biggest factor. Foreign players want to either be at the big 5 or 6 clubs and if they can't then they want London. It will be far easier to attract anyone to London than it would be the North east.

Outside of the North East and even inside to an extent it's seen as an absolute shit hole that no one would want to live there.

As much as we hate to admit it, we're nothing in terms of the footballing world, all Sunderland, Newcastle and Boro, anyone who thinks any of those clubs have any relevance they're massively deluded!

Dunno. But I don't see the point you're making.

Players might be more attracted to London than Newcastle, but I'm not sure it would be a consideration for Benitez.
you don't think he would be concerned about what calibre players he could sign?

strange

As I said it's down to Ahsley, either he gives Rafa what he wants, or he will quite possibly walk

No doubt once Unai Emery arrive for his interview this afternoon he will be installed as favourite anyway

If I was Rafa I'd be signing nowt until the end of a successful transfer window. No hurry, he still has a year to run on his current contract. Compare his body language to Conte's last weekend.
