Your talking about one player... Rafa has assembled you a full squad of his own choice costing 85m and it's a load of shite.

Don't see what Barca has got to do with it.

Net spend means fuck all he's still spent 85m+ on players.

Your blind to this though as your a deluded mag. A sad one at that pretending to be a Sunderland fan who's been rumbled now your just coming up with shite as your rattled that anybody would bad mouth Rafa.

It's melt DOON get it right

 Berk.

Exactly mate he thought he would be clever and make a username catts4life the perfect ruse to pretend to be a Sunderland fan.

Then he spouts loads of shite that clearly outs him as a mag but he keeps digging himself a deeper hole making more of a tit of himself.
Some are better than others at hiding their true identity. He isn't one of them though :)

I have just skipped through the posts on this thread and I have to say Catts that you do come over as a definite mag! You put up a case for Benitez but rather than cutting your losses and agreeing to disagree you seem to be going to extreme lengths to support him. Even going so far as to google stats . Now that to me smells of mag, especially as you have appeared from nowhere I might add

He just needs to change his username to fat4life then he's definitely a mag.

Benitez is in a negative net spend of around £20m since he joined. That means, theoretically, his squad is weaker to the tune of £20m worth of players than the one he inherited. It's pretty obvious to most sensible heads that Benitez is one of the game's good managers, as is backed up by his record, and Ashley is an absolute shitshow of an owner, 2 relegations supports that.

I don't get it. Ashley being a shit owner is a good thing for us. The desperation to paint him as a good owner and Rafa is a shit manager is just being pathetically contrary to anything the mags say. Hated Pardew. SMB=Pardew solid manager. Hate Ashley. SMB=good owner. Love rafa. SMB=charlatan.

What a f***ing bairn you are.
I think you'll find its bairns who live in fantasy lads like you are bonny lad.

But you quoted my post regarding buying one for £40k.

Regardless of what your cult say, he hasn't spent £20m, he's brought in over £100m worth of players and made you weaker than when he took over.

I don't even know the figures but I'm pretty sure you've just magicked around £20m on top of the actual figure

It doesn't matter how large the numbers are. If you sell what you have and replace it for less then you generally get weaker. Easy this.

@Frankel
Do you honestly believe that? Yes.

As far as I'm aware Ashley has very little to do with the running of the club now and its all been down to Lee Charnley and Benitez. That's the party line trotted out by Ashley to absolve humself of blame. Charnley does what Ashley tells him and Charnley answers to Ashley.

Like it or not, Ashley has put a huge amount of his own money in to the club. Not true. The only time Ashley has put his own money in (in the form of a loan from himself to the club) has been £20m in the seasons in the championship to cover 'running costs'. People go on about Benitez' net spend being relatively low, but he inherited Shelvey and Townsend who were purchased for circa £25m two months before he took over. Who provided that £25m? Ashley. Not true again. By that time the club was effectively self sufficient not just in terms of transfers, and was running at a profit since 2010/11.

When he took over Newcastle were close to doing a Leeds. Freddy Shepherd was running the club in to the ground, yet Ashley came in and steadied the ship. Debt was £75m when Ashley took over. Now the club's debt to Ashley is £130m. How many other clubs are running on an even keel? Think only 2 or 3 were in the red in the last list of premier league financial results. How many other managers would be allowed to overhaul the squad the way he did last summer? Even this window, hes still been allowed to bring in players. Why shouldnt he be expected to ship out a load of the players purposefully bought for promotion to fund new ones? 16 have left 6 have came in.

Why does money always indicate potential success? Steve McClaren spent a boat load of money on shite but pretty much relegated you. McClaren was appointed under the old model, and was part of the 'football board' which also featured Graham Carr, Bob Moncur and Lee Charnley. Carr was de facto director of football and had unbelievable influence on who the club signed, as backed up by Pardew, McClaren and even Carver.

Reply is in italics in the quote.

1. Has Benitez not actually confirmed this though? That Ashley has no involvement and he only deals with Charnley?
2. So you think he should use his own money and write it off? If you were to loan money from a bank, they wouldnt provide the interest free facility that Ashley does?
3. So being self sufficient is a result of the club but not Ashley? Is his management of the club not deemed praiseworthy? And he has actively allowed the 25m to be spent?

Hes far from being the worst chairman but equally far from being the best.

Surely playing guarantor last season, while allowing Benitez to deal should see him in some kind of credit? Shouldnt Benitez be expected to work within his means? Or does the amount of players purchased determine his success?
