Rafa. He's still not happy

He has, but to be fair to him, always have a sensible conversation with him in twatter

When he's talking about other stuff you can see what he used to be like and how balanced he was. Anything Mag related and he's full on spaz.

Good post.
Every club in the top flight has broken its transfer record in the last two years, Newcastle's still stands from 2005.
Haggling over £8m release clause for Lejeune, trying to pay it in instalments. Refusing a £1m loan fee for Abrahams.
The owner said on tv the club can have every penny it generates, yet it's £9m ij profit from transfer sales since Benitez arrived.
Hundreds of thousands of pounds per week knocked off the wage bill in the last week alone.
Several injuries and suspensions in the first few two weeks of the season, yet no player signed in the last 34 days of the window.
16 players out and 6 brought in.
Deliberate sabotage by the owner/board.

Do you honestly believe that?

As far as I'm aware Ashley has very little to do with the running of the club now and its all been down to Lee Charnley and Benitez.

Like it or not, Ashley has put a huge amount of his own money in to the club. People go on about Benitez' net spend being relatively low, but he inherited Shelvey and Townsend who were purchased for circa £25m two months before he took over. Who provided that £25m? Ashley.

When he took over Newcastle were close to doing a Leeds. Freddy Shepherd was running the club in to the ground, yet Ashley came in and steadied the ship. How many other clubs are running on an even keel? How many other managers would be allowed to overhaul the squad the way he did last summer? Even this window, hes still been allowed to bring in players. Why shouldnt he be expected to ship out a load of the players purposefully bought for promotion to fund new ones?

Why does money always indicate potential success? Steve McClaren spent a boat load of money on shite but pretty much relegated you.

Rafa has had more than enough to be in a much better position, he is the one responsible for your current squad. He chose to overspend getting you promoted, filling your squad with players who aren't good enough. How you can blame Ashley is beyond me.

I know we like to take the piss and give a bit stick to RB but if he leaves they're absolutely fucked.
Depends who they bring in. I think they are in more trouble if FSW stays as he isn't used to the scrap at the bottom of the league or managing average players.

#nufc frustrating, needed more investment. Benitez deserves better from Ashley, Benitez can be intense, awkward etc, but exceptional manager.
"Exceptional" :lol:

12 Years ago, Steven Gerrard won the European Cup for Liverpool, yet Benitez gets all the credit. What's he done since? Sacked by Inter, Chelsea and Madrid. Took each club backwards. Took 10 points from 9 games in a relegation scrap including games against us, Norwich and Vila. Spent millions and still only won the Championship because Brighton imploded. Spent more money this summer and already look favourites for relegation.

but aye, Exceptional manager

There are a few responses to that, within 140 characters of course :)

Definitely.
After this window and the clearly public undermining of the manager in the sky interview by Ashley and the clubs failure to deliver players in areas prioritised by the manager, I'd be very surprised if Benitez is still here in a month.
I'm not sure, unless West Ham sack Bilic. If he does go, there's a real paucity of options out there.

Simply can not understand their unconditional love for that man...

They even post how they in a way hope he resigns just to show the board up, or because he deserves so much more etc.

Basically they would prefer that he leaves to the detriment of their own club just because his is such a great guy and manager and deserves an open checkbook and a personal fluffer

Facts (the mans favorite word):
Relegated them with poor results - barely won the championship after massive spending - looking wank now again.

Add to that zero charisma. I just don't get it...

Manquillo £4.5M :lol::lol::lol::lol:

I've not really been watching much of what they have been doing this summer. Did they really pay that much for him? Anyone know where there is a summary of what they did this summer?

We had Yedlin on loan but he was not great so we didn't sign him permanently. They bought him. Manquillo was shocking, only being a bit-part player in a team that went down bottom and they paid £4.5m for him?

To any Mags watching this thread, I really hope your club does not swoop for our talented right back Billy Jones. His tight marking, quality crosses when pushing forward and heading ability in the box would be a loss we just could not cope with.

@Frankel
Do you honestly believe that? Yes.

As far as I'm aware Ashley has very little to do with the running of the club now and its all been down to Lee Charnley and Benitez. That's the party line trotted out by Ashley to absolve humself of blame. Charnley does what Ashley tells him and Charnley answers to Ashley.

Like it or not, Ashley has put a huge amount of his own money in to the club. Not true. The only time Ashley has put his own money in (in the form of a loan from himself to the club) has been £20m in the seasons in the championship to cover 'running costs'. People go on about Benitez' net spend being relatively low, but he inherited Shelvey and Townsend who were purchased for circa £25m two months before he took over. Who provided that £25m? Ashley. Not true again. By that time the club was effectively self sufficient not just in terms of transfers, and was running at a profit since 2010/11.

When he took over Newcastle were close to doing a Leeds. Freddy Shepherd was running the club in to the ground, yet Ashley came in and steadied the ship. Debt was £75m when Ashley took over. Now the club's debt to Ashley is £130m. How many other clubs are running on an even keel? Think only 2 or 3 were in the red in the last list of premier league financial results. How many other managers would be allowed to overhaul the squad the way he did last summer? Even this window, hes still been allowed to bring in players. Why shouldnt he be expected to ship out a load of the players purposefully bought for promotion to fund new ones? 16 have left 6 have came in.

Why does money always indicate potential success? Steve McClaren spent a boat load of money on shite but pretty much relegated you. McClaren was appointed under the old model, and was part of the 'football board' which also featured Graham Carr, Bob Moncur and Lee Charnley. Carr was de facto director of football and had unbelievable influence on who the club signed, as backed up by Pardew, McClaren and even Carver.

Sure did and they fans wonder why Rafa doesn't get heaps of money. I wish he did because he is the most likely person to blow and absolute fortune on shite.

Twatter was in meltdown last night as they realised they'd been fed the usual pup. Expecting Messi and getting Poundland. Considering the cash they have raked in recently, I thought Secret Agent Mike might have coughed some up. Will be getting the popcorn in for the forthcoming riots as the Waiter blames everyone but himself and walks.
its no secret Ashley wants out. why would he stump up....

Lots and lots of Benitez buys
= £85.2 million

why would Benitez sign anyone on the last day? he has brought in 15 players in the last 2 summers, spending over £85million. he appears to be well supported by his chairman in the transfer market, and with a squad consisting of mostly his own players, Newcastle fans must be giddy with excitement at the prospect of a world class manager and his personally assembled squad taking over the Premier League

Great post and tidied a little bit by moi.
The bits in bold are the inescapable and uncomfortable geordie truths.

It would be an appointment along the lines of McClaren, Carver, Kinnear or Pardew. Somebody so grateful for the chance to manage in the premier league they'd eat all the crap they were fed from the club

The realisation that keeping Benetiz and spending a load of money on Championship players comes at a price. Long season ahead for them.

Spoke to a lad after the cricket on Sat in Leeds who was at the game. I thought he would have been buzzing, giving it the usual big one they do etc. But no, he just said don't be fooled by that result, they are f***ing dire.
