Dunno, maybe. Stands to reason that as transfer fees explode, wage demands will go up too. Also there'll be demands made by players about playing time, release clauses if someone better comes in for them, or if we go down. I'm sure the agents will demand a whole heap of shit too.

Course we do, but we'll be receiving further payments after the window closes, so it makes sense to use some if not all of that money now and have our billionaire owner cover any costs that aren't covered by the "wipe our own nose" financial plan he put in place.
What good is spending nowt now and having millions come in during a period where we can't make signings? Especially when the next window is notoriously bad for getting good value.

He will get credit if Hanley gets sold for £15m, but he gets no credit for Sissoko, Wynaldum, townsend and the rest being sold last summer. Surely you can see the difference?

He built a squad to deliver on an aim in that regard he's been successful.
He now needs to build a new squad for a different aim. And it behoves Barnes and Charnley to support him because he's our safest bet at delivering survival, and growth thereafter. If that costs us £60m now and £60m every season going forward, then so be it.

If he spots a player, take Hanley, and they sell him for a decent profit I'd give him credit for spotting the potential. This hasn't happened in the 3 windows he has had yet they still treat him like some sort of miracle worker.

The point still stands, in the context of this window, a newly promoted side only spending £30m is a gamble.

Well the rest of the £30m will be recieved from the subsequent installments of the Premier League money. Further spending should come from player sales and Premier League money. We're financially well run, so to suggest we'd risk our financial future is a bit melodramatic. Also bear in mind it was a figure plucked from the air to prove a point, so I wouldn't focus on it too much.
Tell me who set the price for Sissoko if it wasn't a figure taken from discussions with the manager? Lee Charnley on his own? Then he surely shoulders the blame for Sels?
