Socially it’s quite clear which is the worst but me personally it wouldn’t offend, sicken etc etc me.

I repeat yet again it isn’t something I’d do mind.

Interestingly it seems singing songs about wishing people dead is more acceptable than a comment about a black player and a banana.

If I was going to take offence at either of them it would be the former as oppose to the latter.

I;d say that 95% of what's on this thread more than negates that. It's blindingly obvious from the way they've been called out is that they're a tiny and pitied, if not despised, minority. I doubt there's any football club in the country that hasn't got a few of these idiots lurking within their support; some will probably have a lot more than us from a far lower support base.

I've sung the racist songs back in the day when it was seen as a bit of harmless banter. I'd bet quite a few of us have done the same and are quite rightly ashamed of doing so.
In recent years i've heard it twice, once at blackburn about 10 years ago when i said nothing. Second time at hull in the cup when i did and it could have ended badly if it wasn't for the lads mates and my mrs. I could see the stewards wondering what the commotion was and at the end of the day both people would get banned regardless of who said what if it escalates. Might sound soft but i'm fucked if i'm getting banned from doing something i love to prove a point to some idiot.
Reading this thread you would think it's commonplace at awaydays but it's really not thankfully.

The drunken excited idiot shouting out an old 'joke' has a kind of excuse, however flimsy.

But those continuing to defend it in the cold light of day, in any way, have no excuse whatsoever.

I've no idea why the Mods allow it to continue when we know supporters of other clubs read the forum and it looks like we have knuckle-dragging racists freely posting ..... that's bad enough but it's quite possible the players, including Maja, get on here.

It’s a nothing comment to me. It clearly isn’t to others. I still have no idea how people can continually go through life being offended on behalf of others.
I have been going to matches for over 30 year with different groups of people in that time and I can honestly say I don’t know anyone who would have taken as much offence at the remark as people on here have claimed to.
I look at racism as discrimination, not giving people the same opportunities as others based on skin colour, I don’t put name calling in the same bracket.
The first instance I would find disgraceful and it would bother me, the second I’d forget about as quick as it was said.
